Compliance Officer

Ebury Vilnius Office - Hybrid: 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home per week
A compliance officer is a critical second line of defence role responsible for managing the compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies and procedures within Ebury. The right candidate will work closely with the Board of Directors, advise on regulatory matters, various stakeholders in the business, develop policies and procedures, ensuring local compliance standards are met.
What you’ll do
Compliance programme development, management and implementation.
- Compliance programme development:
- Regulatory advisory: Provide guidance on the interpretation and application of new and existing financial regulations.
- Conduct regulatory impact assessments for proposed changes to legislation or regulatory guidance, translating complex legal texts into clear, actionable requirements for the business.
- Support the drafting and review of internal policies, procedures, and controls to reflect current regulatory obligations and best practices, ensuring a robust and compliant operating environment.
- Act as the primary point of contact and liaison with regulatory bodies, central banks, and governmental agencies for routine inquiries, information requests, and thematic reviews, managing the relationship and ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Develop and deliver targeted training to staff across all levels of the organization on specific regulatory topics and compliance obligations to foster a culture of compliance.
- Monitor regulatory change across all relevant jurisdictions and inform the business of necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.
- General Project Support: Support ad-hoc tasks within team and wider business as required.
Operational Efficiency and Development
- Self-starter: Takes initiative and works independently to manage workload, identify areas for improvement, and proactively address potential issues or risks without requiring constant supervision.
- Knowledge Development: Continuously develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of current regulatory requirements, policy, processes, and corporate structures to ensure consistent competency and meet all performance KPIs.
- Collaboration: Work flexibly and collaboratively within the team to manage workload peaks and contribute to the overall efficiency of the Onboarding function.
What you’ll need
- Education: University degree in a relevant field (e.g., Law).
- Language Fluency: Fluency in English and Lithuanian, with articulate and professional communication skills in both written and verbal contexts.
- Industry Experience: 2 years prior experience in Banking, Fintech, legal or compliance functions.
- Software Proficiency: Working knowledge of desktop-based office software, including MS Office Suite (especially Excel) and the Google Suite, for data management and reporting.
- Ability to operate independently and challenge senior management where necessary.
