We are looking for a Business Analyst to gather functional requirements, identifying current and future business flows, and development of functional requirement documentation for a large-scale tax system modernization. This position will be full-time and hybrid in Trenton, NJ.
What You'll Do
Primary responsibility of the Business Analyst includes facilitating stakeholder meetings to gather functional requirements, identifying current and future business flows, the creation of as-is and to-be business models, and development of functional requirement documentation for a large-scale tax system modernization
Additionally, the Business Analyst will create a requirements traceability matrix which includes performing GAP analysis as needed to validate alignment between approved requirements, current business processes, and the vendor's proposed solution, ensuring seamless transition from procurement to implementation
The role extends through the testing lifecycle, developing comprehensive UAT strategies and test scripts/user stories, coordinating validation activities, and ensuring deployed functionality meets business expectations. The ideal candidate would have a background in finance, accounting or audit system modernization
As a key member of a project team, the Business Analyst proactively identifies and communicates potential business process re-engineering needs.
The Business Analyst will also be responsible for creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation, including user flow diagrams, process models, requirements traceability matrix, and ad-hoc business reports, and forms/correspondence specification documentation
Conduct user research to assess customer pain point and identify opportunities and risks on improving customer’s Digital experience
Capture requirements from various stakeholders, synthesize them with scope and priority, expected behavior, and risks associated with the request
Work with design team and involved in various brainstorming sessions and sessions to discuss the business scope, provide design feedback in terms of performance, customer experience and security measures before sharing with business stakeholders to finalize the design
Perform GAP Analysis and document the gap between the existing established business requirements and the “as” is business model to define requirements for the procurement of a new system
Identify different issues/risks associated with the Epic/Feature/Stories, communicate with business team or Product owner and determine the risk mitigation plan with the team to tackle the challenge
Ensure productivity of the team by creating and maintaining documentation
Responsible for creating various user flow diagrams, data flow diagrams, and various ad-hoc reports as per business request.
Assess various documentations of the project to provide feedback on the team’s needs
Responsible for coordinating between State Agency Project Manager & Vendor to run the process flawless. Create business, logical and physical data model
Collaborate with business partners (State Agency & Vendor) at various levels to research and validate functional requirements, technical requirements and use cases
Create detailed functional designs, process flows and use cases
Review, comment, follow-up and target reported defects and enhancement requests
Participate in user meetings to gain understanding of customer processes, ideas and issues
Work closely with vendors/developers to ensure the product is being built to specifications
Collaborate with team members throughout the Software Development Life Cycle process for requirements gathering, feedback on proposed designs and models, and user acceptance testing
Use best practice risk management, anticipate and assess risks and create mitigation plans
Ensure quality, accuracy and completeness of customer
Participate in requirements prioritization and facilitate the negotiation of requirements amongst multiple stakeholders.
Manage requirements traceability information and track requirements status throughout the project.
Manage changes to baselined requirements through effective application of change control processes and tools.
Provide updates as required
What You'll Need
Required:
5 years in business analysis and testing
Knowledge of requirements traceability
Knowledge of requirements elicitation
Knowledge of developing test cases and scenarios
Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and the implementation of Software as a Service (SaaS) solution
Knowledge of As Is and To Be Modelling
Experience in the standard concepts, practices, and deliverables related to Business Analysis in support of software development projects
Experience with all the aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Ability to translate high-level business and user requirements into functional requirements specifying an appropriate level of detail suitable for use by those must base their work on the requirements.
Superior planning skills with the ability to handle large workload and facilitate the activities of dynamic work groups
Strong technical problem-solving skills, with an ability to troubleshoot complex application issues
Exceptional research skills and resourcefulness
Proven ability to lead diverse groups of resources to solution agreement by leveraging influencing skills to drive consensus
Effective communication skills; listening, written and verbal; ability to communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experienced user of MS Excel, MS Word, MS Visio, MS Teams and MS PowerPoint
Preferred:
Experience in the implementation of Salesforce applications
Experience with large scale system modernization
Knowledge of COT/SaaS large scale implementations/modernizations
Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Experience in the implementation of Salesforce applications

$60 - $70 per hourThe pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education.
