Job Summary
The Financial Analyst III is a senior finance professional responsible for independently performing complex financial analysis, forecasting, and decision‑support activities. Operating with limited supervision, this role applies advanced financial expertise and business judgment to evaluate performance, identify trends, and support strategic and operational decisions. Role Overview
The Financial Analyst III functions as a fully contributing analyst with ownership of significant financial processes, models, or business areas. The role independently manages complex analysis, supports budgeting and forecasting at a higher level, and translates financial results into actionable insights. Success is demonstrated through high‑quality analysis, strong business partnership, proactive risk identification, and meaningful contribution to financial planning and performance management.
Key Responsibilities
Advanced Financial Analysis & Performance Management
Independently perform complex financial analysis related to revenue, cost, profitability, and operational performance
Lead in‑depth variance analysis and trend identification, explaining key drivers and implications
Develop and maintain advanced financial models to support planning, forecasting, and decision‑making
Prepare executive‑level financial reports, dashboards, and presentations
Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategic Planning
Lead development and coordination of forecasts and budgets for assigned functions, programs, or business units
Evaluate assumptions, scenarios, and risks to improve forecast accuracy
Support long‑range planning, scenario analysis, and strategic initiatives
Identify financial risks and opportunities and recommend mitigation or action plans
Business Partnership & Decision Support
Serve as a trusted financial advisor to business leaders and operational stakeholders
Support business cases, investment evaluations, and cost‑benefit analyses
Translate complex financial data into clear insights and recommendations
Influence decisions through data‑driven analysis and credible financial counsel
Data Integrity, Systems & Process Improvement
Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of financial data and reporting
Act as an advanced user of ERP, planning, and reporting systems
Identify and drive improvements to financial processes, models, or reporting tools
Support implementation of new financial tools, methodologies, or system enhancements
Leadership, Mentorship & Collaboration
Provide guidance, coaching, and informal mentoring to Financial Analyst I–II employees
Review work products for quality, accuracy, and consistency
Collaborate cross‑functionally with finance, operations, and leadership teams
Share best practices, insights, and lessons learned across the finance organization
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field required
Master’s degree (MBA or MS Finance) or professional certification (CPA, CMA, CFA) preferred
Typically requires 5–7 years of progressive finance or financial analysis experience, reflecting established professional capability
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Advanced working knowledge of finance, accounting, and financial planning principles
Proven ability to independently perform complex financial analysis and modeling
Strong analytical, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving skills
Advanced proficiency with spreadsheets, financial systems, and reporting tools
Strong business acumen and understanding of operational drivers
Effective written and verbal communication skills, including executive‑level presentations
Ability to influence decisions without direct authority
