About the Cockrell School of Engineering Industry and Research Relations Office
Under the Associate Dean for Research, the Industry and Research Relations department builds collaborations that advance UT’s mission and help companies achieve their business goals around innovation, talent and branding. We work with external organizations interested in collaborating with the Cockrell School of Engineering to access top talent, fill gaps in their technology/product roadmaps, stay ahead of technology disruptors and design workforce development programs
Position Purpose
We are seeking a reliable and motivated student employee to assist full-time staff with routine accounting and clerical tasks. This student will mainly be tasked with processing payment vouchers and assisting with account reconciliation while adhering to university policies and procedures. This student employee may also support departmental events as needed.
This position is open to current UT Austin work-study students who meet the required qualifications listed below. This position is open for Fall 2026 and is expected to continue throughout future semesters.
Responsibilities
Finance Administration
Processing payment vouchers and assisting with account reconciliation
Perform routine data entry and record maintenance
Administrative Support
Assist with electronic filing and document organization
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive information
Other duties as assigned
Event Support
Assist with departmental events set-up/tear-down and execution (i.e. accepting catering, helping with registration, setting out signage, etc.)
Create administrative documents such as registration lists, name tags, floorplan layouts, etc.
Required Qualifications
Strong attention to detail.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Intermediate proficiency in Adobe Acrobat.
Strong interpersonal communication skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions carefully and work independently.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
