Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform plant thermal hydraulic evaluations and analyses in the areas of ECCS LOCA, Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and RIPD analyses.
- General expertise in two-phase thermal hydraulic analysis techniques.
- Take responsibility for fuel project activities including reload analyses, methods implementation, power uprates, new fuel introductions, and safety analysis support for emergent fuel issues.
- Perform in cross-disciplinary settings, engaged with interfacing teams responsible for mechanical design, core design, licensing, systems design, or other affiliated organizations to find optimum customer solutions.
- Prepare, document and present technical data to internal/external customers.
- Provide technical mentoring to support team development and knowledge management, including procedure development and adherence.
- Develop/deliver training course offerings in support of external commercial requests, as well as for internal audiences for knowledge management, and knowledge capture and transfer.
- Lead team process improvements to drive speed and simplification.
- Ensure work is performed with high quality in accordance with regulatory rules and regulations, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, or similar) from an accredited college or university.
- Experience in T-H Nuclear Plant Safety Analysis.
Desired Characteristics
- Experience in ECCS LOCA, Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and Reactor Internals Pressure Difference analyses.
- M.S. Degree in Nuclear Engineering with experience in T/H modeling as applied to nuclear reactor systems.
- Experience with BWR technology ECCS LOCA and Containment analysis to support applicable regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of reactor licensing requirements.
- Experience with BWR/PWR T-H systems codes such as TRACG, RELAP & TRACE.
- Experience in Best Estimate methodology development (e.g., TRACG LOCA).
- Experience with Best Estimate and CSAU applications.
- Programming experience such as C#, FORTRAN, or PYTHON.
- Demonstrated high energy and the ability to energize others.
