WHY PATIENTS NEED YOU

The Director, Supply Chain Operations & Logistics (Secondment) provides leadership for the Kalamazoo Supply Chain Operations and Logistics organization supporting both Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) and Drug Product (DP) operations.

WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE

The role helps ensure patients receive medicines when they need them by leading supply planning, scheduling, customer service, logistics and trade compliance, industrial engineering, business systems, and continuous improvement activities that enable reliable supply, strong customer service, and effective execution of site and network commitments. 
 

This secondment is intended to provide broad leadership exposure across site operations, network supply commitments, strategic prioritization, and cross-functional decision making while supporting Kalamazoo’s business performance, supply recovery, and operational excellence priorities. 

HOW YOU WILL ACHIEVE IT

  • Supply chain leadership: Lead the end-to-end Supply Chain Operations & Logistics organization supporting API and DP manufacturing operations, including supply planning, scheduling, customer service, logistics, trade compliance, industrial engineering, business systems, and operational excellence interfaces. 

  • Patient and customer supply: Drive execution of supply plans that support customer service objectives, inventory targets, new product launch commitments, technology transfers, and site performance expectations. 

  • Strategic planning and capacity alignment: Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Technical Services, Finance, Procurement, Digital, Commercial, and network stakeholders to balance supply, demand, capacity, inventory, cost, risk, and patient impact. 

  • Performance management: Use metrics, governance routines, digital tools, and operational reviews to identify risks, improve schedule adherence, strengthen supply performance, and deliver measurable business outcomes. 

  • Continuous improvement and simplification: Champion process improvement, Lean/IMEx ways of working, standard work, data-driven problem solving, and simplification across supply chain and operational support processes. 

  • Business and financial leadership: Manage departmental budget, resource plans, headcount priorities, and operating commitments while supporting annual planning, forecasts, and site financial objectives. 

  • Risk, compliance, and quality partnership: Lead with a quality and compliance mindset, partner with Quality and Operations to address risk, maintain inspection readiness, and ensure decisions protect patients and supply reliability. 

  • People leadership: Build an inclusive, collaborative, and accountable team culture; coach and develop leaders; support talent and succession planning; and reinforce Pfizer Values through leadership communication and engagement routines. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Must-Have

  • Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with at least 8+ years of experience; OR a master's degree with at least 7+ years of experience; OR a PhD with 5+ years of experience, OR a MD with 4+ years of experience. 

  • Degree required in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Operations, Life Sciences, or a related discipline. 

  • Significant experience in supply chain, manufacturing, operations, logistics, engineering, continuous improvement, or a related discipline in a complex manufacturing environment. 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead organizations, manage priorities, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and deliver results through others. 

  • Strong understanding of planning, scheduling, inventory management, customer service, performance metrics, budget management, and operational governance. 

  • Ability to use data, planning systems, business intelligence, and digital tools to improve decisions, simplify work, and increase transparency. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complexity, align stakeholders, and communicate clearly across all organizational levels.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience operating in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment preferred. 

  • Lean, Six Sigma, IMEx, operational excellence, or equivalent process improvement experience preferred. 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

  • Regular partnership with Kalamazoo Site Leadership Team, API Operations, Drug Product Operations, Quality Operations, Technical Services, Engineering, Finance, Digital, Procurement, Launch Excellence, People Experience, and network supply chain partners. 

  • Frequent engagement with planning, scheduling, customer service, logistics, trade compliance, industrial engineering, business systems, continuous improvement, and operational excellence teams. 

  • Interfaces with commercial, network planning, global supply, and other above-site stakeholders as required to manage supply commitments, capacity decisions, and business priorities. 

RESOURCE MANAGED

  • Organization includes Supply Planning & Scheduling, Customer Service, Logistics & Trade Compliance, Industrial Engineering, Business Systems, and Continuous Improvement / Operational Excellence support functions. 

  • People, budget, headcount, and resource accountability to be confirmed in the final Workday requisition and compensation review process.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL, OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS 

  • Standard Kalamazoo site-based leadership expectations apply. Some flexibility may be required to support manufacturing operations, customer supply needs, site governance, and network interactions. Travel expectations, if any, should be confirmed before posting.
