Senior Business Analyst
The Senior Business Analyst leads complex analysis across programmes and portfolios, turning business needs into clear requirements and value-driven technology solutions.
Sitting within Life Technology, the role works with Product Owners, Service Design, Change Business Analysts, Engineering, QA and DevOps. This role also involves providing guidance to Business Analysts working within the feature teams.
This is an opportunity to influence important business and technology initiatives while helping shape the Business Analysis capability. The role contributes to BA strategy, standards, capability development and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Business Analyst, you will lead analysis activities across the full delivery lifecycle, translating business needs into clear, actionable requirements and solution designs that can be implemented effectively within complex technology environments. Working closely with Technology, Architecture, Product, Engineering, QA and Change teams, you will shape and validate solutions that balance business value, technical feasibility, quality and risk.
You will drive the definition of functional, non-functional and integration requirements, ensuring they are understood and deliverable within complex technology environments. The role requires strong stakeholder management, the ability to navigate ambiguity, and confidence in challenging assumptions to achieve the right outcomes.
In addition, you will support the growth of the Business Analysis capability by promoting consistent ways of working, coaching and mentoring analysts, and contributing to BA standards, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
- Strong business analysis experience within complex technology, change or digital delivery environments.
- Ability to independently lead analysis and take ownership of outcomes.
- A proactive, self-driven approach with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and facilitation skills.
- Experience analysing complex systems, integrations and data flows.
- Ability to work effectively with architects, engineers and technical delivery teams.
- Experience defining and documenting API, integration and non-functional requirements.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
- Confidence building relationships, influencing decisions and constructively challenging stakeholders at different levels.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and Agile delivery approaches.
- Commitment to developing BA standards, capability and ways of working.
Desirable
- Experience in UK financial services, Life or Pensions.
- Experience working in a regulated technology environment.
- Knowledge of Sonata, Salesforce, Adobe Experience Cloud or Dynamic Planner.
- Experience coaching or mentoring Business Analysts.
- Understanding of QA, DevOps and delivery pipelines.
- BCS certification or equivalent

Location: Stirling or Edinburgh office (Hybrid 2 – 3 days per week)
