Our flagship Trade Account offers instant credit with over 1600 Preferred Suppliers, simplified monthly expenses, and a generous rewards program.
We have a strong foundation in the automotive and machinery aftermarkets. Our vibrant community includes over 31,000 Members across Australia and New Zealand, from national franchises to your local family workshop. Last year, Capricorn facilitated nearly $4bn in sales with our Preferred Suppliers.
At Capricorn, we're about more than just products and services. We work hard to ensure that our Members, Suppliers and People feel like they're part of something bigger: a Community which is connected and supported to make a difference, while having some fun along the way!
A little about the role
As Senior Communications Specialist, you will design and deliver communications strategies that support Capricorn’s strategic objectives, corporate reputation and industry positioning. Working across Australia and New Zealand, you will develop high-quality external communications for Members, Suppliers, industry stakeholders and the broader community.
This is a broad, hands-on communications role with a strong focus on writing and editing, corporate reporting and strategic communications planning. You will coordinate major publications including Capricorn’s Annual Report, State of the Nation Research Report and ESG Report, and develop executive communications such as speeches, presentations, articles, opinion pieces, scripts and leadership messaging.
You will also support media strategies and coordination, write and manage media releases, identify opportunities and respond to enquiries across trade, business, mainstream and international media. Working closely with Senior Leaders and the Executive Team, you will bring structure, judgement and strong stakeholder management to complex communications projects.

- A minimum of eight years’ experience in a communications role, with demonstrated capability across external and corporate communications.
- Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to create clear and engaging content for different channels and audiences.
- Proven experience coordinating and managing major corporate publications, reports or executive communications materials.
- Strong strategic communications planning and execution skills, including the ability to manage complex projects, stakeholders and deadlines.
- Experience developing executive communications including speeches, presentations, articles, opinion pieces, scripts and leadership messaging.
- Experience contributing to media and public relations activities, including media releases, media engagement and relationship-building.
- Well-developed stakeholder management skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities while maintaining quality.
Highly regarded
- Experience working with trade, business, mainstream or international media.
- Experience communicating with member, customer or stakeholder communities across Australia and New Zealand.
- Experience supporting sustainability, ESG or research-based corporate reporting.
- Background in a member-owned, industry, corporate or similarly complex stakeholder environment.
Qualifications
A degree in Public Relations, Communications or Journalism is preferred. Equivalent experience in a similar role will also be considered.
