Role: Senior Accountant
Location: York
Salary: Up to £45,000 depending on experience
An established and growing accountancy practice in York is looking to recruit an experienced Senior Accountant to join its team.
This is a varied general practice role, working with a portfolio of SME and owner-managed business clients across accounts, tax and wider advisory work. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership of client relationships, manage assignments independently and provide practical advice to help businesses grow.
The firm is looking for someone technically strong, proactive and confident dealing directly with clients, with the opportunity to take on greater responsibility and progress towards a management level position over time.

Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant job include:

Managing a portfolio of small and medium-sized business clients

Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies

Preparing business and personal tax computations and returns
-
Dealing with bookkeeping, VAT returns and management accounts where required

Providing practical accounting and tax guidance to business owners

Ensuring assignments are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines

Identifying opportunities to provide additional advice and support to clients
Requirements of the Senior Accountant job include:

ACA or ACCA qualified, ideally, or an equivalent professional qualification
-
Multiple years' experience working within a UK accountancy practice
