Description
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Swale and Maidstone to assist with the appointment of a Senior Planning Officer, on a 6-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £154.40 - £202.64 per day
Summary:
Senior Planning Officer responsible for assessing and determining planning applications, investigating planning enforcement matters, providing professional planning advice, and ensuring development complies with planning legislation, policies, and regulations. The role involves managing complex planning cases, attending committee meetings, negotiating with stakeholders, and supporting junior team members.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate planning applications, enforcement cases, and appeals.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for Planning Committee and delegated decisions.
- Provide planning advice to applicants, agents, councillors, and the public.
- Conduct site visits and investigate breaches of planning control.
- Present cases at Planning Committee meetings, appeals, hearings, and public inquiries.
Essentials:
- Degree in Town Planning or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- MRTPI membership or eligibility for membership.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Strong knowledge of planning law, planning policy, appeals, enforcement, heritage, and development management.
- Extensive experience in Development Management within Local Government.
- Experience handling planning applications, enforcement cases, and appeals.
- Strong report writing and presentation skills.
