Key Responsibilities
As Business Development Lead - Government & Defence, you will play a pivotal role in driving growth across the European Government & Defence sector. You will identify strategic opportunities, develop customer relationships and create integrated logistics solutions that address complex operational requirements.
Growth & Business Development
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities across government, defence, and related strategic sectors.
- Develop and execute growth strategies to expand Maersk's presence within the European Government & Defence market.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, influencers and procurement stakeholders.
- Lead commercial engagements from opportunity identification through contract award and implementation.
Solution Development & Opportunity Management
- Collaborate with Solution Design, Operations, Product, Security, Compliance, Legal, and Finance teams to develop tailored customer solutions.
- Lead complex bid and tender opportunities, ensuring competitive and compliant value propositions.
- Ensure opportunities are fully scoped with strong alignment between customer requirements and operational delivery capabilities.
- Translate customer challenges into innovative, scalable, and value-driven logistics solutions.
Strategic Market Leadership
- Monitor industry trends, geopolitical developments, procurement programs, and customer priorities to identify future growth opportunities.
- Act as the voice of the customer and provide market insights that influence product and capability development.
- Represent Maersk at industry events, conferences, associations, and customer forums.
- Support the continued development of Maersk's Government & Defence value proposition across key European markets.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for a commercially driven and relationship-focused professional with a passion for business development and complex logistics solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in business development, strategic sales, account management, or commercial leadership roles.
- Proven success in identifying, developing, and winning complex business opportunities.
- Experience working within Government, Defence, Aerospace, Security, or related sectors is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of logistics, supply chain management, and integrated transportation solutions.
- Experience managing complex stakeholder environments and navigating senior-level customer organizations.
