Engineer - Mechanical Design

## What you’ll do:

We are looking for motivated professionals with strong skills to execute engineering projects / solutions for Eaton’s Medium & Low Voltage products through specifications, design, implementation, testing etc. A professional who will drive engineering excellence and leverage analysis first approach. He/she should design cost-effective, reliable solutions and build VAVE portfolio for Capacitors & Network Protectors. Professional must have strong mechanical knowledge and skills to execute VAVE projects. Success in this position requires the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment, strong motivation for pursuing project objectives and the ability to learn new techniques and development processes. He/she should able to carryout the Plant Productivity improvement projects

• Execute engineering/ development of Capacitors & Network Protectors and respective subsystems with new feature implementation as per marketing requirements
• Improve efficiency of engineering process by digital tools
• Understand product portfolio, business landscape and provide cost out proposals through tear down of products
• Take technical ownership of engineer to order requirements. Ensure product compliance to global design standards like IEEE, IEC or any other compliance standard.
• Demonstrate proficiency in use of CAD (2D and 3D) tools with mechanical or electromechanical systems. Knowledge of industry recognized drafting and CAD standards, practices and procedures. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, SAP and Enovia is preferable
• Bring a value addition to end customer by modify existing products through Change Management process
• Complete tear downs, generate ideas, perform system / component sizing, modeling, and simulation to meet product design and compliance requirements
• Select engineering techniques to solve problems and make design recommendations
• Find out opportunities for continuous improvement and make VAVE proposals to business
• Knowledge of standards in accordance with IEC/IEEE codes which will allow development of test plans.
• Utilize knowledge of electrical performance requirements, physics and provide engineering judgement on the impact on the product from cost, testing and certification perspectives.
• Good to have - Understanding of tests like Temperature rise, Fault current, High voltage, Impact, Vibration, mechanical/ electrical endurance per standards thereby estimating impact on product performance from VAVE standpoint

## Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

• 3 to 6 yrs experience in VAVE, Continuous Improvement & product design

## Skills:

• Experience on electromechanically distribution products preferably Capacitors, Network Protector Switchgears or large electromechanical assemblies
• Experience on executing program/ project through all stages of the product development cycle
• Team player, working with global teams, working in Virtual environment
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Inventor, Enovia, SAP and 3D modelling
• Should be able to generate novel concepts/ideas for the improvement for systems/ sub-systems
• Demonstrated experience in coordinating/completing complex projects on-time
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the value proposition and quality of the engineering deliverables

Desired:

• Sound technical knowledge in electromechanical products & VAVE process.
• Strong mechanical technical knowledge on understanding customer specifications and drive for VAVE and CI opportunities.
• Understanding of relevant industry standards and how they apply to the product
• Monitor progress and achievements on projects. Provide timely status and reports to stakeholders
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Self-directed and able to report progress and metrics in a recurrent basis
