About the Role
We are seeking a highly capable Senior Risk and Audit Specialist to join Information and Digital Services (IDS) at Flinders University. Reporting to the Senior Information Security Audit & Risk Lead, you will play a key role in strengthening governance, risk and compliance practices across a complex and evolving digital environment.
Working closely with IDS leaders and stakeholders across the University, you will support the ongoing development and continuous improvement of risk and governance frameworks, policies and processes. You will provide expert guidance on risk, audit and compliance activities, contribute to governance reporting, and help ensure strategic and operational initiatives align with best practice governance standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a governance and risk professional who enjoys influencing outcomes, building strong relationships and driving continuous improvement within a collaborative and forward-thinking team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the development and continuous improvement of IDS governance and risk frameworks, policies, processes and standards.
- Providing advice, reporting and support to governance forums, leadership teams and stakeholders to strengthen risk, audit and compliance outcomes.
- Collaborating with IDS teams to ensure audit, risk and compliance activities align with operational priorities and strategic objectives.
- Contributing to the development and management of governance, risk, audit and compliance models that support informed decision-making and prioritisation.
- Undertaking secretariat responsibilities for key IDS governance committees and coordinating associated actions, communications and initiatives.

About You
You are an experienced governance, risk or audit professional who enjoys bringing structure, insight and continuous improvement to complex environments. You have a collaborative approach, strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to balance strategic thinking with operational delivery. You are motivated by the opportunity to influence positive outcomes and help strengthen governance and risk practices across a large and complex organisation.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Significant experience in governance, risk, audit or compliance roles within a complex environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify risks and deliver practical recommendations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build effective working relationships.
- Experience developing, implementing or supporting governance frameworks, risk management processes and reporting activities.
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and professional experience.

Information and Digital Services (IDS) are a pivotal resource of the University, providing information and digital technology services and support to the Flinders University staff and student community. The IDS team apply technical expertise to support university projects and provide core services such as the IDS Service Desk, Audio visual, simulation and event services, Information security and identity access management services and more.

Appointment to this role is conditional on the completion of required pre-employment checks and declarations, each of which must be satisfactory to the University. This includes:
- A current completed Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and Gender Based Violence Declaration which is satisfactory to the University.
