Job Description Summary

We are looking for a Digital ASIC Design Engineer to join our global engineering organization and contribute to the development of advanced integrated circuits for future medical technology.

You will become part of a highly skilled ASIC development team working at the intersection of semiconductor technology and healthcare. Our ASICs are key enabling technologies in our products, and the team works with state-of-the-art methods and tools to solve challenging engineering problems where performance, quality and reliability matter.

The position will be located in Europe and will report to our ASIC development team in Norway. You will collaborate with colleagues and technical experts across locations and disciplines in an international development environment.

We welcome applications from both recent Master’s graduates with a strong interest in digital IC design and experienced digital ASIC designers. The role offers opportunities to grow your technical expertise, take increasing ownership and develop your career within a global technology organization.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design and develop digital integrated circuits as part of our ASIC development team.
  • Participate in the complete ASIC development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through RTL design, verification, implementation and validation.
  • Develop high-quality, synthesizable RTL using modern hardware description languages.
  • Perform design verification and analysis to ensure functionality, performance and robustness.
  • Contribute to design reviews, verification activities and the transition of designs from RTL to realized silicon.
  • Work closely with analog ASIC designers, verification engineers, system engineers and other engineering disciplines to develop solutions optimized at the system level.
  • Apply structured engineering methods and industry-standard EDA tools throughout the development process.
  • Contribute to synthesis, timing analysis, design-for-test and other implementation activities according to experience and area of responsibility.
  • Analyze simulation, implementation and measurement results and use these results to improve designs.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and automation of our ASIC design, verification and development workflows.
  • Document designs, technical decisions and verification results in accordance with our development and quality processes.
  • Collaborate across an international engineering organization and contribute to an open environment for technical discussion, knowledge sharing and innovation.
  • Depending on experience, take ownership of larger design activities and provide technical guidance to other engineers.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Microelectronics, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Academic or professional background in digital design, digital integrated circuits, FPGA/ASIC development or related areas.
  • Good understanding of fundamental digital design concepts and synchronous digital systems.
  • Experience with or academic exposure to hardware description languages such as SystemVerilog or VHDL.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a geographically distributed engineering team.

Both recent graduates and experienced candidates are encouraged to apply. For recent graduates, relevant coursework, thesis work or project experience in digital design, FPGA or ASIC development is highly relevant. For experienced candidates, we value demonstrated experience developing digital integrated circuits in an industrial or research environment.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with digital ASIC or FPGA design and verification.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard EDA tools and ASIC development flows.
  • Experience with RTL design using SystemVerilog, Verilog and/or VHDL.
  • Understanding of logic synthesis, static timing analysis and digital implementation.
  • Experience with functional verification and simulation.
  • Familiarity with design-for-test, clock/reset design, low-power design or related ASIC design techniques is an advantage.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Tcl or similar, particularly for automation of engineering workflows.
  • Experience with version control and modern collaborative development practices.
  • Curiosity and a strong interest in semiconductor technology and digital design.
  • A structured and analytical approach to engineering problems.
  • Willingness to learn, share knowledge and develop technical expertise.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines, cultures and locations.
  • Interest in applying advanced technology to products that can make a meaningful difference in healthcare.
