The Department of the Secretary of State (SOSNC) is looking for an Administrative Specialist I to perform work in cash intake part of the accounts receivable processes of the Department. This position is responsible for performing the cash intake function of the Department for both the front counter walk in clients and for mail in clients. This position is responsible for accurately and timely applying mail and front counter payments to the accounts receivable portion of the Department’s internal system.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/AND ABILITIES:

  • Administrative & Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of modern office procedures, equipment, and software (e.g., Microsoft Office, cash/count machines, scanners); skilled in organizing documentation and using tools like 10-key machines.

  • Financial & Accounting Expertise: Specialized knowledge in cash handling, accounts receivable, bookkeeping and basic accounting principles.

  • Analytical & Judgement Skills: Capable of exercising discretion, interpreting policies/regulations and applying sound business judgement in deadline-driven environments.

  • Communication & Interpersonal Abilities: Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to interact effectively with colleagues, management and the public; solid customer service orientation.

  • Teamwork & Self-Management: Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively, plan and review own work for accuracy and support a cohesive team environment across various organizational levels. 


PREFERENCES:

Experience with managing cash and documentation within the government or higher education arena.

Experience with functioning in a complex and fast paced customer service-based function with a significant number of compliance type requirements.

Minimum Education and Experience
