Job Description

Texas A & M-Victoria seeks one full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Literacy Studies with a start date of January 2027. The position is at the Victoria Campus.

Qualifications:  The Department of Teacher Education at Texas A & M-Victoria invites applications for a tenure-track position in Literacy Studies. We seek an individual with an earned doctorate in literacy, reading, or curriculum and instruction with at least 18 graduate hours in literacy education by December 2026. They should also have evidence of strong teaching at the higher education level, and a minimum of 3 years of PK-12 classroom teaching experience in literacy education. The candidate should have a working knowledge of Texas Education Agency expectations on teacher preparation.

Successful candidates will:

• Teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in both traditional and online formats (4-course or equivalent teaching load in the fall and spring semesters);
• Contribute to curriculum development; and
• Contribute to the department, college, and university's mission through assigned service.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated excellence in university teaching in traditional and online environments, an understanding of the structures of schools and systems, and a commitment to developing collaborative relationships.

Setting: Texas A&M University-Victoria is the most recent addition to the Texas A&M University System. The University was founded in 1973 as part of the University of Houston System and was transferred to the Texas A&M University System during the 89th Texas Legislative Session. A&M-Victoria is the only four-year university in a 100-mile radius and is just 30 miles from the Texas Gulf Coast. The Jaguars are part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, and the baseball, softball and soccer teams compete in the Red River Athletic Conference.
