What the role is about:
We are seeking an energetic and experienced Inventory Lead to join our growing and dynamic team! The ideal candidate will be driven, innovative, compassionate, believe in the goodness of people and cannabis, and enjoys the one team, one dream motto! The Inventory Lead Technician is responsible for the accurate, compliant, and efficient movement of product through Vireo Health's facilities. This role provides hands-on support to the Sales Team and Inventory Supervisor by processing order entry, maintaining accurate real-time inventory records, and ensuring product is received, stored, picked, and transferred in accordance with state cannabis regulations and company policy. The Inventory Lead Technician serves as a key point of contact between sales, inventory, and fulfillment functions, helping ensure customers and internal stakeholders receive accurate, timely, and compliant service. This position reports to the Inventory/Quality Manager.
What impact you'll make:
Sales Representative Support
Serve as the primary inventory point of contact for sales representatives, answering real-time questions on product availability, batch/lot details, and stock levels
Pull, stage, and verify product for sales orders, will-call pickups, and deliveries to ensure accuracy prior to release
Communicate proactively with sales staff regarding low stock, backorders, product substitutions, or fulfillment delays
Assist sales reps with resolving order discrepancies, returns, and exchanges in a timely and compliant manner
Support new product launches and promotions by coordinating stock allocation and availability with the sales team
Inventory Supervisor Support
Assist the Inventory Supervisor with daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts, and full physical inventories
Investigate and help resolve inventory discrepancies, documenting root causes and corrective actions
Maintain accurate, real-time inventory records in the seed-to-sale tracking system (e.g., METRC) and internal ERP/POS systems (Business Central)
Support proper labeling, tagging, and packaging of products in accordance with state traceability requirements
Assist with product transfers between rooms, vaults, and licensed facilities, including preparing and reconciling manifests
Help maintain organized, compliant storage of inventory, including rotation practices and segregation of product categories
Support waste and destruction logging in compliance with state regulatory requirements
Assist in preparing documentation for internal and state regulatory audits
Order Entry
Accurately enter and process incoming sales orders and purchase orders into the ERP system
Verify order details (product, quantity, pricing, license information) for accuracy prior to fulfillment
Track order status from entry through fulfillment and shipment, updating internal stakeholders as needed
Assist in coordinating with warehouse, fulfillment, and logistics teams to ensure orders are processed within established timelines
Flag and escalate order errors, pricing discrepancies, or compliance concerns prior to release.
Additional Responsibilities
Receive incoming shipments, verify contents against manifests/purchase orders, and inspect for quality and damage.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe stockroom, vault, and warehouse environment.
Operate handheld scanners, label printers, and other inventory equipment as needed.
Support month-end and year-end inventory close processes.
Assist with special projects, process improvement initiatives, and other duties as assigned by the Inventory Supervisor or Inventory/Quality Manager
What you've accomplished:
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree a plus.
1+ years of experience in inventory, warehouse, distribution, or order fulfillment preferred.
Prior experience in the cannabis industry and familiarity with seed-to-sale tracking systems (METRC, BioTrack, etc.) strongly preferred.
Must be at least 21 years of age and able to obtain and maintain any required state cannabis work permit or badge.
Skills & Abilities
Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly with data entry and record-keeping.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and inventory/POS/ERP software.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a customer-service mindset toward internal sales partners.
Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Strong understanding of, or ability to quickly learn, state cannabis compliance and traceability requirements.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively across sales, inventory, and operations teams.
Must successfully pass a background check in accordance with state cannabis regulations.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks (training provided).
Comfortable working in varied facility environments, including cold storage/vault areas.
