Senior Accounts Payable & Accounting Specialist

Pay: $25.00–$28.00 per hour
About the Role
The Schebler Company is seeking an experienced Senior Accounts Payable & Accounting Specialist to join our Accounting team. This hands-on role owns end-to-end accounts payable operations and supports general accounting activities in a manufacturing environment. You will partner closely with Purchasing, Operations, and Finance to ensure accurate vendor payments, clean financial records, and timely reporting.
This position reports to the Accounting Manager, with occasional direction from the VP of Finance & Administration.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
- Own the full AP cycle, including invoice processing, matching, coding, approvals, and payment execution
- Process electronic payments, ACH transactions, and check runs in accordance with company policies and internal controls
- Manage vendor relationships, reconcile vendor statements, resolve invoice discrepancies, and respond to vendor inquiries
- Ensure accurate coding of expenses to G/L accounts, cost centers, and projects
- Maintain AP controls and support continuous improvement of AP processes, systems, and documentation
- Assist with 1099 reporting and AP-related audit requests
General Accounting
- Reconcile the AP subledger to the general ledger
- Support month-end and year-end close activities
- Assist with balance sheet reconciliations as assigned
- Track and manage use tax obligations
- Serve as backup for payroll processing
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare standard AP and expense-related reports for management
- Support cost tracking and analysis related to manufacturing operations
- Identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost control
- Assist with ad hoc financial reporting requests
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
- 5+ years of related accounts payable and/or accounting experience
- Manufacturing industry experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently, anticipate work needs, and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
Schedule & Benefits

Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work; ability to see details at close range; ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
