Description
Position Summary:
Roots Community Health is seeking a high-performing Senior Clinical Quality and Qualitative Research Coordinator to strengthen and standardize quality improvement (QI) work across our three clinical sites, while gathering, interpreting, and elevating community-driven insights on health and wellness. This position partners closely with clinical services, patient services, client services, navigation, and operational teams to translate performance data into practical workflow improvements that advance health outcomes and support key quality measures (P4P, MCAS, HEDIS, and related benchmarks).
The role also supports rigorous qualitative research, including research design, coding, and analysis, and builds and maintains relationships with community stakeholders for data sharing and sourcing. It aligns qualitative insights with program metrics, clinical performance data, and community-level indicators so that evaluation findings and strategic decisions are grounded in both data and lived experience. This position requires an analytical thinker with strong research and data skills, experience working with clinical teams and community partners, and the ability to translate complex findings into accessible, actionable insights.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Quality Improvement and Systems Strengthening
- Multi-Site Support: Support the implementation and standardization of QI initiatives across all Roots clinical sites, under the direction of the Clinical Quality Manager, to ensure uniform excellence in patient care.
- Performance Tracking: Support the monitoring of priority measures, including cervical and breast cancer screening, diabetes control (A1c), hypertension management, and related measures.
- SOP Development: Assist with designing, implementing, and auditing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and clinical workflow diagrams to eliminate gaps in care.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all QI and research activities maintain strict HIPAA compliance, meet state and federal reporting standards, and uphold privacy, ethical, and data quality standards across all data sources.
Qualitative and Mixed Methods Research
- Research Design and Analysis: Support planning and implementation of rigorous qualitative research, including designing interview and focus group guides, developing codebooks, conducting coding, and performing systematic analysis using established qualitative methodologies as a member of the team
- Analytic Rigor: Maintain and document rigor through audit trails, memoing, triangulation, and intercoder reliability when appropriate.
- Community Insight Gathering: Gather and synthesize qualitative insights from community partners, residents, and stakeholders using interviews, focus groups, listening sessions, and participatory methods.
- Integration: Align qualitative findings with quantitative program metrics, clinical performance data, and community-level indicators; contribute qualitative insights and contextual narratives to dashboards, evaluations, and community reports.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Data Validation: Manage the cleaning and organization of complex datasets, moving beyond basic tracking to predictive trend analysis.
- Chart Auditing: Conduct deep-dive medical record reviews to validate clinical data and identify opportunities for chronic disease management intervention.
- Visual Analytics and Deliverables: Create dashboards, charts, slide decks, reports, briefs, and public-facing materials that communicate performance gaps and qualitative and mixed methods findings to executive leadership, clinical staff, partners, and community audiences. Examples: coded datasets and codebooks for each study, monthly synthesis briefs, and quarterly evaluation report sections.
- Documentation: Maintain data documentation and backup processes and complete required reports and organizational tasks in a timely manner.
Community Partnerships, Education, and Outreach
- Partner Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with community organizations and external partners for data sharing; coordinate data sharing requests and draft inputs for agreements to be executed by the CEO.
- Staff Training: Support the training of clinical and outreach staff on new quality workflows and patient engagement strategies, and help provide guidance and resources on qualitative methods, mixed methods approaches, and community-based data practices, under the direction of the Clinical Quality Manager .
- Patient Outreach: Support outreach strategies, including direct patient contact and the development of education tools to improve screening compliance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Participate in staff huddles and clinical meetings to help present data findings and support a culture of continuous improvement.
- Learner Coordination: Coordinate placements of public health learners (MPH students, field practicum, etc.) across the organization.
Requirements
Core Competencies:

- Initiative: Navigates daily workflows with minimal direction, seeks clarification when needed, actively seeks feedback, and applies lessons learned.
- Mission: Deep commitment to health equity and community-based care.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in public health, Community Health, Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related clinical science required; Master's degree in a relevant field (MPH, MSW, or similar) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of four years of experience in clinical quality improvement, community health, healthcare data analysis, or a community-based, public health, nonprofit, or research environment.
- Qualitative Methods: Demonstrated experience and strong understanding of qualitative research methodology, including research design, coding frameworks, analytic rigor, and synthesis of large bodies of qualitative material; experience contributing to rigorous evaluation reports, research outputs, or publications that meet academic or professional standards.
