Description
For our international client in Zürich, we are looking for a Junior IT Support Specialist to join their service desk team on a short term contract. Good German and English are required.
This is a strong opportunity for someone at the start of their IT career: you will work alongside experienced support engineers in a multinational environment, with structured onboarding and day-to-day mentoring.
Core Responsibilities
1st level IT support (with support on 2nd level tasks)
- Act as first point of contact for users, investigating and resolving common incidents on site and remotely
- Log, track, and update tickets in the internal service desk system according to defined procedures
- Escalate more complex cases to senior colleagues, and assist them in resolving these
- Follow global and local IT procedures and processes
Communication and collaboration
- Provide friendly, professional service to users at all levels of the organisation
- Work closely with regional and global IT support colleagues
- Help users with basic questions on standard tools and applications
Support and maintenance
- Set up, install, and maintain IT equipment: laptops, desktops, multifunctional network devices (printer, copier, scanner), mobile phones, and projectors
- Carry out simple hardware repairs and peripheral replacements following documented specifications
- Install and troubleshoot operating systems, client software, and business applications
- Support colleagues in identifying opportunities to improve service and processes
Local IT administration
- Assist with the 3rd party ordering process
- Help maintain the IT hardware inventory and track compliance
- Support account creation, termination, and move requests under supervision
Information security
- Apply security requirements in force and treat all information as confidential
Education, Experience & Knowledge
- Completed apprenticeship (Informatiker EFZ or equivalent), IT degree, or certified IT training — recent graduates are welcome
- Up to 2 years of professional experience; internships, apprenticeship experience, or practical project work count
- Familiarity with standard IT hardware (desktops, laptops, printers, projectors, iOS and Android devices)
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft environment (Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, basic Active Directory concepts) and Google Workspace
- Exposure to PC staging or software deployment tools is a plus, but training will be provided
- Interest in working in a multinational and multicultural environment
Languages
- Native spoken and written German and fluent English (both are used daily with users)
- Any additional language is an advantage
Personal Qualities
- Willingness to learn quickly and ask questions when something is unclear
- A helpful, patient manner with users of varying technical ability
- Flexibility to adapt as priorities change
- Reliability and composure when the ticket queue gets busy
- Self-motivation and a hands-on attitude
We look forward to receiving your application.
