Job Description
Position Summary
The Senior Vice President will join Brookfield’s Credit Investment Specialist team in New York as a product specialist focused on fundraising and business development for Brookfield’s Credit Platform broadly.
This is a client facing role that involves being an expert on all aspects of Brookfield’s Credit fund offerings with a heavy emphasis on private wealth investors and an expectation of being able to broaden the scope to include institutional investors and investment consultants across the U.S. and Europe.
There will be significant collaboration with members of the firm’s credit portfolio managers across Brookfield (Real Estate, Infrastructure and Investment Solutions) as well as across Oaktree and other “partner managers” and with client relationship managers (“CRMs”), marketing, fundraise and due diligence management, and other groups.
The role requires the ability to earn the trust of portfolio managers that the specialist has the technical capability to understand and articulate the nuances and complexities of the credit portfolios and underlying investments and the ability to dissect investment opportunities at a technical level
The role will also work closely with the Investment Solutions Group to collaborate on bespoke portfolio construction based on client needs and our ability to provide unique solutions across the platform.
Responsibilities
Product knowledge: be a subject matter expert on Brookfield’s Credit offerings and investments by participating in internal investment and asset management meetings to be able to communicate the group’s investments and philosophy effectively to investors and the market
Fundraising and business development: lead or participate in fundraising initiatives by meeting with prospective clients and during roadshows, investor events, conferences, which will include frequent travel to of the U.S. and ultimately to various parts of the world
Product launches: be an active participant in forming and executing fundraising strategies and drive fundraising momentum in the market by partnering with CRMs, the Credit groups and fundraise management
Investment Product Messaging: help develop and refine investor messaging to engage clients and prospects, in coordination with the CRMs
Marketing: play a leading role in idea creation and the development of materials for investors, including presentations, white papers and other investor communications
Strategic Initiatives: assist in research and implementation of new product ideas and support the build-out of distribution capabilities with new markets, investor types and product offerings
Qualifications
12+ years of total professional and technical experience in any of the following disciplines within credit: investing/asset management, structuring, investment banking, rating agency, and corporate development.
Familiarity with RIA and broker channel distribution platforms and unique needs as well as familiarity with regulatory capital frameworks across insurance and pension clients.
Proven ability to cultivate and maintain long-term relationships with credit portfolio managers and investors
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) – must be immediately able to explain technical concepts clearly and simply to clients
Superior listening, problem solving and follow up skills
Ability to balance internal and external demands and priorities
Strong relationship skills and ability to collaborate across groups and share information
Self-starter who originates ideas, and identifies and captures opportunities
Highly collaborative; strong team player
Salary Range: $225k - $300K
Our compensation structure is comprised of a base salary and a short-term incentive program (cash bonus). Cash compensation tends to vary based on geography to account for local market conditions and is set to be market competitive.
