The role
Experienced Statutory Accounting & Reporting Specialist to manage statutory accounting, local compliance, financial reporting, and audit-related activities for Greece. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with Greek statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements while supporting ongoing finance transformation and digitalization initiatives.
Must act as the primary point of contact for local authorities, auditors, and internal finance stakeholders, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timely submission of all statutory deliverables. Due to the nature of the role and the interaction with Greek authorities, systems, and regulatory frameworks, fluency in Greek and English is mandatory.
What you'll be responsible for
Statutory Accounting & Reporting
- Ownership of the statutory audit process, including coordination with external auditors, management of audit deliverables and closure of audit findings
- Prepare and maintain local statutory accounting records in accordance with Greek GAAP and applicable legislation.
- Perform local statutory GAAP adjustments and reconciliations.
- Prepare or collaborate for the annual statutory financial statements and related disclosures.
- Ensure timely filing and publication of statutory accounts.
- Coordinate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end statutory reporting activities.
- Ensure reconciliation between statutory accounts, tax records, and corporate reporting requirements.
Audit & Compliance
- Manage external and statutory audits.
- Act as primary contact for certified auditors and audit firms.
- Prepare audit documentation and support audit requests.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, governance requirements, and documentation standards.
- Maintain statutory records and support documentation for regulatory inspections and tax audits.
Tax & Regulatory Support
- Coordinate with tax teams regarding:
- VAT returns
- Corporate income tax filings
- Withholding tax compliance
- myDATA submissions
- Ensure consistency between tax filings and statutory financial statements.
Regulatory Reporting
- Prepare and submit reports required by Greek authorities and institutions
- Manage external statistical reporting obligations.
- Monitor regulatory changes and assess impacts on financial reporting and compliance processes.
Digital Finance & Transformation
- Support Greece-specific digital compliance initiatives, including:
- myDATA (e-Books)
- Mandatory B2B e-Invoicing
- E-Delivery requirements
- Electronic invoicing platforms
- Contribute to finance transformation projects and technology implementations.
- Support migration-related statutory, audit, and reconciliation activities.
- Collaborate on initiatives involving S4HANA implementation and other finance technologies.
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with:
- Tax teams
- Controlling
- Treasury
- Procurement
- Global Business Centers
- External auditors
- Greek regulatory authorities
- Provide expert guidance on local statutory and compliance matters.
We're looking for someone who has:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- Certified Accountant qualification recognized in Greece.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in:
- Statutory accounting
- Financial reporting
- External audit and Tax compliance can be a plus
- Combination of experience gained in multinational organizations/audit environments strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing statutory audits and working directly with external auditors.
- Proven experience in accounting compliance, governance, and internal controls.
- Experience supporting tax accounting activities and tax audits.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Greek GAAP
- Understanding of Greek tax framework
- Statutory reporting requirements
- Regulatory filings
- Experience managing external audits and regulatory inspections.
- Experience with myDATA and Greek digital tax reporting requirements.
- Advanced MS Excel skills.
- Fluency in Greek and English (written and spoken).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience within multinational organizations.
- ERP requirements, with SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA
- Experience supporting finance transformations and ERP migrations.
- Knowledge of e-invoicing and e-delivery regulations in Greece.
- Experience working with Shared Service Centers or outsourced finance models.
- Understanding of IFRS and its interaction with local statutory requirements.
