Description
ING, Australia’s most recommended bank, is looking for an experienced Portfolio Planning and Controls Lead to drive integrated portfolio planning, governance, and performance oversight across the Data Office.
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Portfolio Planning and Controls Lead is responsible for providing a consolidated view of delivery demand, capacity, capability, workforce, financials, dependencies, risks, and controls across the portfolio.
Working closely with stakeholders across Finance, Technology, Risk, Procurement, and key programs including RADAR Migration, UDA Remediation, and Hubs Transition, the role will establish robust planning disciplines, transparent governance, and actionable portfolio insights.
This role is ideal for a highly organized and influential leader who can simplify complex information, challenge constructively, and build strong stakeholder relationships to enable informed portfolio decisions and successful business outcomes.

What you’ll do …
- Drive Portfolio Planning & Prioritization by coordinating an integrated view of strategic, regulatory, risk, and business initiatives, ensuring resources are aligned to the highest-value outcomes and organisational objectives.
- Drive Demand, Capacity & Workforce Management by overseeing portfolio demand intake, resource forecasting, capability planning, and workforce allocation, proactively identifying constraints, skills gaps, and competing priorities to support effective decision-making.
- Provide Portfolio Governance & Performance Oversight through consistent reporting, milestone tracking, dependency management, and delivery reviews to support executive decision-making.
- Oversee Financials, Risks & Controls by partnering with Finance and stakeholders on budgeting, forecasting, cost management, risk identification, issue resolution, and governance compliance.
- Deliver Executive Insights & Stakeholder Engagement by providing consolidated portfolio reporting, strategic recommendations, and decision-support materials to senior leaders, enabling informed prioritisation, investment, and delivery decisions.
- Manage Cross-Portfolio Dependencies & Strategic Alignment by coordinating delivery across initiatives, identifying interdependencies, resolving conflicts, and ensuring alignment between business priorities, regulatory commitments, and strategic objectives.
- Champion Continuous Improvement & Portfolio Excellence by enhancing portfolio management practices, planning disciplines, controls, reporting standards, and automation capabilities while fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and operational excellence.
What we’re looking for….
- Extensive experience in Portfolio Planning & Controls with a proven track record of leading portfolio management, prioritization, governance, and Optimisation within complex organizations.
- Strong Financial, Workforce & Capacity Planning expertise, including budgeting, forecasting, cost management, resource planning, and balancing demand across multiple initiatives.
- Exceptional Stakeholder Management & Communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders, present executive-level insights, and facilitate prioritization and investment decisions
- Deep understanding of Risk, Governance & Regulatory environments, ideally within Banking or Financial Services, including experience supporting large-scale transformation or remediation programs.
- Highly analytical and strategic mindset, with the ability to integrate delivery, financial, workforce, dependency, and risk data into clear recommendations that drive informed decision-making and business outcomes.
