Quality Manager

Eaton’s ES GEIS BLD division is currently seeking a Quality Manager. This role is onsite at our Troy, IL facility. Relocation is provided within the United States.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $113000 - $165000 a year. Please note the salary information shown is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

## What you’ll do:

As Quality Manager, you will lead the facility’s quality strategy and the total plant quality assurance and quality control system for the cable tray Center of Excellence. You will drive product and process improvement consistent with Eaton requirements, industry standards, government regulations, customer specifications, and the needs of a high-mix metal fabrication and assembly operation. You will also lead compliance with ISO, UL, the Eaton Quality Management System, product warranty requirements, and other quality initiatives aligned with the Eaton Business System.

In this role you will:

• Develop and implement a quality organization and operating system capable of supporting the Troy cable tray facility’s short- and long-term strategic priorities, growth plans, and Center of Excellence objectives.
• Lead the ongoing deployment, maintenance, and improvement of the Eaton Quality Management System, including management review, document control, internal audits, corrective actions, and compliance with ISO 9001, UL, customer, and Eaton requirements.
• Serve as the primary plant contact for customer quality matters, including complaint management, containment, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action, customer communication, and coordination of customer visits and audits.
• Lead quality assurance and quality control activities for incoming material, fabrication, welding, forming, assembly, finishing, packaging, and final inspection to ensure cable tray products conform to drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Establish process controls, inspection methods, control plans, sampling plans, measurement systems, and layered process audits that prevent defects and improve first-pass yield.
• Evaluate key quality metrics, including customer returns, internal defects, scrap, rework, warranty, cost of nonconformance, supplier quality, audit findings, and corrective-action effectiveness. Establish and execute action plans to close performance gaps.
• Lead structured problem solving using 8D, A3, root cause analysis, 5-Why, Fishbone, FMEA, SPC, Gage R&R, and other appropriate quality and statistical tools. Coach plant personnel in the consistent use of these methods.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Continuous Improvement to strengthen process capability, address material and inventory-related quality risks, and support safe, efficient production flow.

• Lead supplier quality performance for steel, aluminum, fabricated components, purchased parts, and outsourced processes through incoming inspection, supplier corrective action, performance reviews, and supplier development activities.
• Ensure quality requirements are incorporated into new product introductions, product transfers, process changes, tooling changes, revised manufacturing strategies, and capital projects through PROLaunch, APQP, control plans, and disciplined phase-gate reviews.
• Build a strong quality culture by managing, coaching, and developing quality personnel; clarifying ownership; providing technical training; and ensuring appropriate resources are assigned to inspection, testing, auditing, and corrective-action activities.
• Actively participate as a member of the plant leadership team in the deployment of Eaton Business System tools and support MESH, ELSS, PROLaunch, Eaton Operations Assessment, and other Eaton continuous improvement initiatives.

## Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a quality function within manufacturing.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience leading and/or directing the activities of others, including direct reports or cross-functional project teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters degree in Engineering, Quality, Operations, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
• Five (5) or more years of quality leadership experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Experience with metal fabrication processes such as roll forming, stamping, punching, bending, welding, assembly, and finishing.
• Detailed knowledge of ISO 9001 quality system requirements and experience leading Quality System internal and external audits.
• Working knowledge of UL requirements, product certification, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, control plans, SPC, MSA, and supplier quality management.
• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, ASQ Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence, Certified Quality Auditor, or Six Sigma Black/Green Belt certification.
• Experience with SAP, Microsoft Office, Minitab or other statistical software, and web-based supplier or customer quality systems.
• Experience working in a represented manufacturing environment and partnering effectively with operational and union leadership.
