The Wikimedia Foundation is looking for a contract Senior Social Media Project Manager for the Communications department of the Wikimedia Foundation. The Senior Social Media Project Manager will support the Communications department’s social media strategy and annual plan, while also providing project management support for broader communications initiatives as needed.

Reporting to the Director, Communications Programs and working closely with the Senior Marketing Manager, Social Platforms, this role will coordinate cross-functional social media initiatives, manage project workflows, ensure campaigns and content are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational priorities. The role will serve as a central point of coordination across social media, creators, creative, content, design, marketing, and analytics teams—facilitating collaboration, managing dependencies, maintaining project momentum, and helping teams extend their capacity to deliver effective communications work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and manage project workflows in Asana, tracking deliverables, dependencies, resources, risks, and changing priorities across distributed teams using Google workspace.
  • Proactively identify and resolve roadblocks, resource constraints, and scope changes, escalating critical issues and helping teams develop practical solutions.
  • Partner with leadership and stakeholders to prioritize initiatives, align resources and timelines, and connect project work to broader communications and organizational goals.
  • Support content and campaign workflows from development through review, approval, and publication, ensuring work stays on schedule and within scope.
  • Develop project documentation, processes, dashboards, and reporting that provide visibility into project health, progress, and campaign performance.
  • Foster effective collaboration across time zones by establishing clear communication practices, team norms, decision-making processes, and expectations.
  • Build trusted relationships across teams, influencing without direct authority and fostering accountability, inclusion, and shared ownership.
  • Lead retrospectives and implement process improvements that reduce bottlenecks, strengthen team effectiveness, and improve project delivery.
