At ALS, we encourage you to dream big.

When you join us, you’ll be part of a global team harnessing the power of scientific testing and data-driven insights to build a healthier future.

About the Position: As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Coordinator to help strengthen our safety culture and empower employees to take an active role in working safely. This position will serve as a visible and trusted HSE partner to operational leaders, supervisors and employees.

In this key role, you will help integrate HSE requirements into day-to-day operational decision-making, promote proactive risk management and support consistent implementation of the ALS Geochemistry HSE Management System. Through strong field presence, effective communication and practical guidance, you will influence safe behaviors, strengthen leadership accountability and support the continual improvement of HSE performance across our growing operations.

You will report to the Ops Manager, Geochemistry with functional reporting to the Regional HSE Manager, Geochemistry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage key elements of the ALS Geochemistry HSE Management System across assigned locations and operations, promoting consistent implementation and continual improvement.
  • Partner with operational leaders, supervisors and employees to integrate HSE requirements into day-to-day activities and decision-making.
  • Conduct and review risk assessments, recommend practical and sustainable controls, and verify that control measures are implemented and effective.
  • Provide practical guidance based on technical expertise, audit findings, operational risks, internal procedures and applicable legal requirements.
  • Coordinate HSE management reviews and support the preparation of audits, performance reports and other HSE documentation.
  • Support incident and near-miss investigations by identifying immediate, contributing and root causes and assisting with the development of effective corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of incidents, near misses, investigation findings, corrective actions and HSE performance.
  • Develop, implement and monitor action plans to support sustained compliance with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements and ALS standards.
  • Lead projects and risk-reduction initiatives that strengthen HSE programs, operational controls and overall safety performance.
  • Identify emerging safety risks, recurring trends and improvement opportunities and work with operational teams to implement and sustain appropriate actions.
  • Maintain a visible field presence and travel to operational sites as required.

What You Bring:

  • A strong commitment to health, safety and environmental excellence.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy and focus.
  • A proven ability to manage priorities, meet performance targets and deliver work within established deadlines.
  • The ability to learn quickly and consistently apply new processes, procedures and requirements.
  • Strong initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing operational priorities and business needs.
  • A collaborative approach and a commitment to contributing to a positive, respectful and high-performing team environment.
  • A proactive mindset, enthusiasm and a high level of self-motivation.
  • Strong computer literacy and the ability to work effectively with digital systems and standard business applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with employees and leaders at all levels.
  • You bring positive energy and a genuine willingness to work alongside production teams to strengthen everyday HSE practices.

Our Benefits Include:

  • An estimated annual salary of $70,000 - $80,000 at the time of posting. Individual compensation is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.

  • Comprehensive benefit package specific to your work status (including extended medical, dental, and vision coverage, access to company perks, life and disability insurance, retirement plan with company match, employee assistance and wellness programs)
