Maintenance Engineer

Mō te tūranga | About the role

We’re looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join our Manawatū team and help deliver good work across the network. This is a hands-on role with real impact. You’ll plan, programme and coordinate maintenance activities, work closely with crews, clients and subcontractors, and help keep delivery sharp across safety, quality and performance.

You’ll bring solid RAMM capability and maintenance contract experience, along with the confidence to step in, take ownership and keep things moving. This role also supports the Department Manager with day-to-day operational delivery, contract management and forward works planning.

Ngā tino kawenga mahi | Key role responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate maintenance activities to support safe, efficient and on-time delivery across the network.

• Produce accurate maintenance programmes in RAMM and help integrate routine maintenance with renewals planning.

• Support contract delivery through claims, variation pricing, measure and value works, and subcontractor coordination.

• Build strong working relationships with clients, stakeholders and internal teams to keep work well planned and well communicated.

• Provide 2IC support to the Department Manager across operational leadership, resourcing and contract management when needed.

• Proven experience in road maintenance or road construction, ideally within a maintenance contract environment.

• Strong RAMM skills and experience producing programmes and managing network maintenance information.

• BE, NZCE, diploma in engineering or relevant industry experience, along with at least 5 years’ relevant experience.

• A current Class 1 driver licence, and ideally an STMS qualification.

• A collaborative, accountable approach with good judgement, strong planning skills and a focus on safety, quality and getting the job done right.
