Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Director of Finance with construction industry experience who thrives in a hands-on leadership role. This individual will oversee the accounting and finance function, provide strategic financial guidance, improve internal processes, and partner with ownership and leadership to drive accurate reporting, forward-looking planning, and sound business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all accounting and finance operations, including month-end close, financial reporting, cash flow and treasury management, budgeting, forecasting, and revenue recognition.
- Partner with ownership and operations on strategic planning, capital allocation, job costing, Work in Process (WIP), profitability analysis, and overall financial performance.
- Enhance accounting and finance processes, internal controls, and ensure compliance with tax, licensing, bonding, and financial reporting requirements.
- Serve as the primary financial contact for banking partners, bonding/surety companies, auditors, insurance, and external advisors.
- Build, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team while providing hands-on leadership and strategic guidance to the executive team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field with at least 10 years of construction or project-based accounting/finance experience.
- Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP, revenue recognition (percentage-of-completion), forecasting, month-end close, and financial reporting; CPA and/or MBA preferred.
- Proven leadership experience managing accounting/finance teams in a fast-paced, growth environment.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and construction accounting software proficiency (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, or Foundation) with strong analytical and strategic skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a hands-on, business-partner leadership approach.
