JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
The Account Clerk serves a vulnerable population of clients by issuing the Electronic Benefits Transaction (EBT) card, petty cash and cash equivalents to eligible clients in a fast paced, high-volume environment within the Human Services Department. This role involves processing the activation of EBT cards, as well as troubleshooting various issues with our benefits systems to ensure clients have access to their needed assistance funds. The Clerk serves a vital role in ensuring cards are processed and activated before reaching clients to provide the smoothest possible access to community assistance provided by the Jefferson County Government.
SCHEDULE:
This position operates in-person on a four-day work week, Monday through Thursday. Typically working 7:00-5:30
COMPENSATION:
Hiring Range: $20.73-$24.02 USD Hourly
Compensation will be determined based on education, experience and skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The Account Clerk is responsible for:
Preparing EBT cards for benefit eligible clients and troubleshoot any issuance problems
Providing a high level of customer service including trauma informed care to clients
Work with multiple computer systems such as Colorado Benefits Management System (CBMS), EBTEdge, Workday, and other internal programs
Completing reconciliations of daily inventory reports
Preparing receipts for over-the-counter cash payments
Providing administrative support to Issuance, Collections, and Accounts Receivable Clerks.
Performing various routine financial support duties, utilizing standard office equipment, to include: making photocopies; performing data entry; sorting and distributing and preparing mail, faxing documents; processing email; typing; and word processing.
Maintaining, processing, and updating various files and records, both electronically and in paper format
Scanning, indexing, and filing documents alphabetically, numerically, or by other prescribed methods.
Reviewing and processing cash receipts.
Preparing related spreadsheets and conducting required calculations and reconciliations.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience: Customer Service
*Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities:
Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Strong customer service skills.
Cash handling.
Ability to explore and troubleshoot issues.
Good general computer skills.
Inquisitive spirit.
Comfort working with the public.
Ability to resolve customer concerns.
Additional Job Information:
A valid Colorado driver’s license is required for positions that drive on County Business in either a county or personal vehicle within 30-days of hire or beginning to serve as an intern or volunteer.
