Legal Advisor

A leading client is seeking an experienced Legal Advisor to provide specialised intellectual property legal support, manage legal risk, and deliver practical business-focused legal solutions. This role offers the opportunity to work across complex IP matters, including trade marks, copyright, domain names, patents, designs, litigation, and commercial IP strategy while partnering with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Provide expert legal advice on intellectual property matters and legal risk mitigation.
• Draft, review, negotiate and manage a variety of IP-related agreements and legal documentation.
• Manage and protect commercial IP and domain name portfolios, including registrations, enforcement, disputes and strategy implementation.
• Conduct intellectual property due diligences and prepare risk assessments and reports.
• Advise on IP litigation, copyright matters and advertising complaints.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal legal teams, business stakeholders and external service providers.
• Support legal governance, compliance, risk management and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Utilise technology and digitisation tools to optimise legal processes and service delivery.

Requirements:

• Postgraduate Degree in Law.
• Minimum of 5–7 years' experience providing legal advice, drafting, reviewing and negotiating legal documentation.
• At least 5 years' experience in a specialised Intellectual Property role, either in private practice or in-house.
• Strong knowledge of trade marks, copyright, patents, designs, domain names and IP enforcement.
• Proven experience identifying, assessing and mitigating legal risk.
• Exposure to the financial services regulatory environment will be advantageous.
• Strong legal drafting, research, contract management and dispute resolution skills.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship management abilities.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
