Requirements:

• 5–8+ years of progressive Finance/FP&A experience, preferably within CPG, food & beverage, or another consumer products environment.
• Strong experience supporting Sales, Commercial, or customer-facing organizations.
• Demonstrated understanding of Gross-to-Net, trade spending, customer profitability, pricing, and Contribution Margin.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling.
• Experience working with trade promotion management and/or customer deduction processes strongly preferred.

Job Description:

The Commercial Finance Manager serves as a key financial business partner for Sales, Revenue Growth Management (RGM), Accounting, and Commercial leadership. The role owns the financial governance and decision support required to translate commercial activity into Net Sales, Profitability, and Contribution Margin performance.

This position is responsible for ensuring the financial integrity of customer and product economics, including trade investment, accruals, deductions, customer terms, promotional ROI, and customer/SKU-level profitability.

Working closely with RGM, the Commercial Finance Manager evaluates the financial outcomes of pricing, promotional, mix, and customer strategies while maintaining clear accountability for actual performance versus plan.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial Financial Management

• Own financial performance and analysis from Gross Sales/Net Sales through Contribution Margin across customers, channels, brands, and SKUs.
• Develop and maintain customer and SKU-level P&Ls to provide visibility into profitability and key financial drivers.
• Lead monthly analysis of Net Sales, trade investment, deductions, and Contribution Margin versus Budget, Forecast, and Prior Year.
• Identify financial risks and opportunities and translate findings into clear recommendations for Commercial leadership.

Commercial Decision Support

• Serve as the Finance partner to Sales and RGM for customer, pricing, promotional, and commercial investment decisions.
• Evaluate the financial impact of RGM recommendations, including pricing, price-pack architecture, promotional strategies, mix shifts, and customer programs.
• Develop scenario and sensitivity analyses to quantify impacts to Net Sales, Gross Margin, and Contribution Margin.
• Provide financial recommendations and guardrails to ensure commercial strategies deliver profitable growth.

Planning and Forecasting

• Support AOP, ROP, and forecast development for Net Sales, trade investment, and Contribution Margin.
• Partner with Sales and RGM to validate the financial implications of volume, price, mix, promotional, and distribution assumptions.
• Maintain forward-looking financial Risks & Opportunities related to customer and commercial performance.
• Ensure commercial forecasts reconcile to approved customer programs, trade assumptions, and financial targets.

Reporting and Executive Insights

• Develop concise, executive-ready reporting explaining commercial performance and key drivers.
• Provide customer, channel, brand, and SKU profitability insights to Commercial and Finance leadership.
• Build standardized reporting and analytical tools that improve visibility and reduce ad-hoc analysis.
• Translate complex financial information into clear business implications and recommended actions.

Qualifications & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Commercial acumen: Understands how pricing, volume, mix, promotions, and customer investments translate into financial performance.
• Financial ownership: Moves beyond reporting results to identifying drivers, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.
• Business partnership: Effectively challenges and influences Sales and Commercial partners while maintaining strong working relationships.
• Analytical rigor: Able to work from detailed customer/SKU data through executive-level financial conclusions.
• Structured problem solving: Converts ambiguous commercial questions into clear financial analyses and recommendations.
• Executive communication: Presents complex financial information concisely with a clear point of view.

Functional/Technical Skills

• Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
• Strong understanding of P&L mechanics, Gross-to-Net, trade spend, Gross Margin, and Contribution Margin.
• Strong analytical and data visualization capabilities (Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent).
• Experience with Power BI or similar business intelligence tools.
• Experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred.
• Experience with TPM/trade management systems preferred.
• Familiarity with syndicated data such as SPINS or Nielsen is beneficial but not required.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, or related field required. MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Job Details:

• Work Schedule: Hybrid, Monday-Friday, 4 days onsite, 1 day remote – Standard Business Hours (Based out of LA)
• Work Attire: Smart/Business Casual
• Pay Range: $125,000 - $150,000 salary + bonus eligible
