Description

You’ve discovered something special. A company that cares. Cares about leading the way in construction, engineering, manufacturing and renewable energy. Cares about redefining how energy is designed, applied and consumed. Cares about thoughtfully growing to meet market demands. And ─ as “one of the Healthiest 100 Workplaces in America” ─ is focused on the mind/body/soul of team members through our Culture of Care.

The Commercial Finance Manager serves as a finance lead for FTI’s major commercial pursuits and long-term agreements from early opportunity shaping through contract execution and project launch. The position is initially a hands-on leadership role with substantial individual modeling responsibility and a mandate to build the standards, governance, and operating rhythm of a new Commercial Finance capability.

Ideal candidate will have a demonstrated experience leading the financial evaluation of large, multi-year, capital-intensive, or operationally complex opportunities. Will have advanced financial modeling capability and strong command of cash flow, working capital, margin, NPV, IRR, payback, scenario analysis, and capital allocation. Strong commercial judgment and demonstrated ability to interpret contracts, challenge deal terms, and translate operational and legal provisions into financial consequences. Executive-level communication skills, including the ability to distill incomplete and complex information into clear recommendations and decision materials. Proven ability to lead cross-functional work, establish structure in ambiguous situations, and balance speed, rigor, and business practicality. Willingness to remain hands-on in modeling, analysis, and material development while building the function.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

Experience: 5 or more years of progressive experience in commercial finance, project finance, pricing, transaction finance, FP&A, corporate development, or a related field, including meaningful ownership of complex commercial decisions.

Experience in construction, manufacturing, electrical, energy, infrastructure, data centers, or another capital-intensive project environment preferred.

Experience structuring or evaluating long-term agreements, complex pricing arrangements, major customer pursuits, or project-based contracts preferred.

Experience supporting commercial negotiations, customer or counterparty diligence, and executive or board-level approvals preferred.

Experience building a new finance capability, governance process, or analytical operating model preferred.

Travel: 5%

Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads the finance workstream for major pursuits and long-term agreements, establishing the analytical plan, required inputs, decision milestones, and cross-functional working cadence from early evaluation through project launch.
  • Develops, reviews, and owns integrated financial models covering revenue, pricing, volume and ramp, labor, materials, engineering and design, manufacturing or installation costs, capital requirements, working capital, cash flow, margin, and risk-adjusted returns.
  • Advises business and executive leaders on commercial structure, including pricing mechanisms, volume commitments, escalation, milestone payments, cost recovery, capital deployment, working-capital protection, and other terms that shape long-term economics.
  • Leads sensitivity, scenario, break-even, and downside analysis; identifies the assumptions that drive value and clearly define the financial and operational conditions required for an opportunity to succeed.
  • Directs customer, counterparty, market, and concentration-risk diligence, coordinating with Legal, Risk, Tax, Treasury, Accounting, and external advisors as appropriate.
  • Partners with Legal and commercial teams throughout negotiations to connect contract language with the financial model, identifies unintended economic exposure, and strengthen alignment between pricing, obligations, remedies, and operating assumptions.
  • Prepares and presents executive decision packages that frame the opportunity, alternatives, economics, material risks, unresolved issues, and Finance recommendation in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Serves as the Finance liaison through contract execution and project launch, ensuring approved economics, assumptions, commercial commitments, and performance expectations are transferred into the operating plan.
  • Establishes Commercial Finance standards, model templates, review controls, assumption libraries, pipeline visibility, decision materials, and documentation practices; coaches partners and future team resources as the capability grows.
  • Builds a disciplined bid-to-actual feedback process that identifies model variance, pricing leakage, execution lessons, and changes needed to improve future pursuits.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

The job description and responsibilities described are intended to provide guidelines for job expectations and the employee's ability to perform the position described. It is not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all functions, responsibilities, skills, and abilities.
