The QA Specialist is responsible for monitoring quality and production procedures throughout the facility to ensure quality, food safety, employee safety, and GMP standards are met.
How You Will Make Contributions That Matter
- Assists with implementing, monitoring, verification, and validation of production standard operating procedures & controlled documents.
- Interacts with personnel at all levels to communicate quality issues. Assists production personnel by providing instructions, direction and guidance as needed to ensure quality and food safety standards are met.
- Provides support and back up to QA Manager and Supervisor in audits including corporate, customer, GFSI, and State and Federal regulators during inspections, product sampling, etc.
- Assists with conducting new-hire Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) training and other food safety and quality trainings as needed.
- Assists with maintaining the HOLD and positive release programs within all departments.
- Provides follow up on special projects related to quality.
- Assists with Quality Assurance documents and program review within the plant.
- Drive the facilities Environmental Monitoring Program with direction provided by QA Manager and Supervisor.
- Assists with monitoring and maintaining the FSMA, and HACCP programs.
- Interacts with and assists production personnel with quality issues. Provides instructions and guidance to production personnel as needed to ensure quality standards are met.
- Assists with data entry and performs monthly trending related to Plant QA daily, monthly and yearly KPI targets.
- Serve as initial point of contact for QA laboratory needs and direction.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
You Are Best Suited For The Role If You Have The Following Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years Quality Assurance experience and/or 3-5 years of food manufacturing experience.
- Working knowledge of computer programs (i.e., Excel, Word, SAP, etc.)
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and provide solutions.
- Ability to obtain HACCP certification.
- Strong math and analytical skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently with good time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in manufacturing environment which includes but not limited to: noise, changing temperatures (hot, wet, cold, humid), standing/walking/bending/stooping/climbing stairs, maneuvering around manufacturing equipment consistently throughout the shift.
- Physical lifting up to 40-lbs unassisted frequently throughout the shift.
- Working with chemicals, wearing personal protective equipment, and following approved chemical handling procedures
