HR Coordinator (6-Month Term Contract)
Location: Downtown Ottawa, ON (Hybrid/In-Person - work from home Friday)
Employment Type: Full-Time 6-Month Contract
Anticipated Start Date: July 27, 2026
Salary: $35 - $39
Position Summary
Our client is seeking an HR Coordinator for a 6-month contract opportunity to provide administrative and operational support to their Human Resources team. This role will support key HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee inquiries, HR administration, policy implementation, and compliance initiatives.
The successful candidate will contribute to the smooth delivery of HR programs and processes while ensuring alignment with Canadian employment legislation, organizational policies, and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Coordinate job postings while ensuring compliance with human rights and employment equity principles
- Schedule interviews and support candidate communication throughout the recruitment process
- Assist managers with interview coordination and recruitment activities
- Coordinate reference checks as required
- Support new employee onboarding, including orientation, policy acknowledgements, and mandatory training
- Ensure completion and maintenance of employee documentation, including TD1 forms, direct deposit information, and emergency contact information
HR Administration & Support
- Provide administrative support for the implementation of a new HR policy platform
- Assist with employee training assignments and tracking
- Maintain accurate HR records and documentation
- Support day-to-day HR administrative activities and employee inquiries
Compliance & Policy Support
- Support compliance with applicable employment legislation, including:
- Canada Labour Code
- Occupational Health and Safety regulations
- Human Rights legislation
- Accessibility legislation (including AODA, where applicable)
- Assist with updating, communicating, and implementing HR policies
- Support workplace accommodation processes in partnership with management and HR leadership
Qualifications & Experience
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- 1–3 years of experience in an HR Coordinator, HR Assistant, or administrative HR role
- Knowledge of Canadian employment legislation (provincial or federal experience considered an asset)
- Experience working with HRIS and payroll systems; experience with BambooHR and/or ADP is considered an asset
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
