Sales Engineer

Primary objective of the position

Prepare technically compliant, commercially competitive and fit-for-purpose quotations for EPC projects, supporting Yokogawa in Italy and Spain. The role includes detailed analysis of customer specifications and datasheets, selection and configuration of the appropriate Yokogawa instrumentation, preparation of technical deviations and clarifications, and coordination with internal specialists, sales teams, factories, partners and customers throughout the bidding process.

EPC Proposal Responsibilities

• Analyse EPC requests for quotation, customer specifications, requisitions, datasheets and project documentation.
• Identify technical, commercial and contractual requirements affecting the instrumentation scope.
• Prepare technical deviation lists, clarification lists, assumptions and exclusions.
• Review and comment on customer document lists, vendor document requirements and documentation schedules.
• Review and comment on inspection-related documents and requirements, including inspection and test plans, quality documentation and applicable project procedures.
• Interpret instrument datasheets and select the correct solution from the Yokogawa portfolio.
• Perform flowmeter sizing and calculations and select the appropriate flow technology according to process conditions and customer specifications.
• Select and configure pressure, temperature and flow instrumentation. Knowledge of level instrumentation is also desirable.
• Prepare technically compliant quotations, including model-code selection, accessories, documentation, testing, inspection, packing and other project requirements.
• Coordinate technical clarifications with EPC engineers, customers, Yokogawa product specialists, factories and internal sales teams.
• Support technical bid clarification meetings and communicate the proposed solution, deviations, assumptions and risks clearly to the customer.
• Review customer comments and incorporate agreed changes during bid revisions and re-bids.
• Support the handover of awarded projects to the order execution and project management teams.
• Maintain complete and traceable technical and commercial quotation documentation.

About the candidate

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or Process Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
• Proven experience preparing technical and commercial quotations for EPC projects in the process industry.
• Strong technical knowledge of process instrumentation, particularly pressure, temperature and flow measurement.
• Ability to interpret customer specifications, requisitions, instrument datasheets, process data and project documentation.
• Experience preparing technical deviation and clarification lists.
• Experience reviewing vendor document requirements and inspection-related documentation.
• Knowledge of flowmeter sizing, calculation and technology selection.
• Knowledge of process analysers and analytical instrumentation is an advantage.
• Experience with Yokogawa instrumentation and product selection is highly desirable.
• Advanced user of Microsoft Excel and good command of Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Good commercial awareness, including cost, margin, competitiveness, risk and compliance considerations.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with EPC engineers, customers, sales teams, product specialists and factories.
• Proactive, organised and able to manage several quotations and priorities simultaneously.
• Strong teamwork skills and ability to work in an international and remote environment.
• Excellent command of English. Spanish and/or Italian language skills are highly desirable.
