The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.
## Your Responsibilities
As a Part-Time Student Manufacturing Engineering for John Deere Waterloo Works located in Waterloo, IA, you will:
- Support product engineering and manufacturing teams throughout the PDP cycle by helping gather information, documenting feedback, and assisting with manufacturability assessments.
- Assist with capital project activities by supporting equipment and tooling evaluations, maintaining project documentation, and helping coordinate procurement and installation activities.
- Support pre-production build events by collecting data, tracking issues, documenting observations, and assisting the team in resolving manufacturing concerns.
- Contribute to manufacturing readiness efforts by assisting with process validation activities, monitoring action items, supporting risk mitigation tracking, and helping evaluate new manufacturing technologies and digital solutions.

## What Skills You Need
- Pursuing an Engineering/Technology/Computer Science degree; others may apply
- Must be registered as a full-time student at an accredited university/college
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
- Effective communication skills
- Demonstrated project management and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of various functions of manufacturing
- Good interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Graduation date of December 2028 or later
- Available to work during the academic year (16-20 hours weekly).
- Available to work during the summer semester (30-40 hours weekly)
- Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
- Must be able to commute to the work location in Waterloo, IA
## What Makes You Stand Out
- Experience using Python, SQL, Power Query, VBA, or similar tools to support manufacturing, engineering, or business process improvements
- Experience developing dashboards, reports, and data-driven insights using Power BI, Alteryx, Excel, Tableau, or related analytics platforms
- Experience with robotics or automation
- Experience in a Manufacturing position supporting a workforce (academic/internship experience acceptable)
- Experience developing and deploying operator work instructions (academic/internship experience acceptable)
- Experience with process development, tooling design, fixturing and workstation layout (academic/internship experience acceptable)
- Experience with Bill of Materials structure, build papers and ECN process execution (academic/internship experience acceptable)
