Role Overview: 

Provides expert HR leadership and support to ensure compliance with all policies and procedures, while providing excellent service to the employees and management team. Implement human resources programs and procedures including talent acquisition, staffing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, safety and health, employee relations, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations within the established guidelines and policies of the company. Is a key driver of collaboration efforts between People Operations and business units, and is the keeper of the culture for the organization reflecting core values at all times.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides expert HR leadership, mentorship, and support to People Operations and Payroll staff while promoting collaboration, excellent service, and the organization's core values.

  • Develops, implements, and monitors People Operations strategies, programs, systems, and procedures covering staffing, compensation, benefits, safety, employee relations, labor relations, and AA/EEO compliance.

  • Serves as a subject matter expert for management and employees on complex and sensitive HR matters, fostering positive interactions and resolving employee relations concerns.

  • Oversees reasonable accommodations, investigations into allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations in accordance with established policies and best practices.

  • Oversees recruitment, interviewing, and hiring, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional positions, and partners with department managers to identify required skills and competencies.

  • Analyzes compensation and benefits trends and recommends competitive base pay, incentive programs, and benefit options that support talent attraction and retention within budget.

  • Coordinates with benefit vendors to resolve employee claims and directs employee and vendor inquiries to appropriate HR resources to ensure timely, effective service.

  • Oversees compliance and regulatory training and maintains current knowledge of HR trends, best practices, employment law, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies.

  • Tracks and reports departmental performance metrics, including vacancies, turnover, transfers, and promotions, and coordinates employee recognition notifications.

  • Prepares and submits annual EEO, VETS-4212, and OSHA reports and distributes required employee notices, benefit summaries, policy updates, and other periodic communications.

  • Oversees the Payroll function and provides backup support to the Payroll Specialist as needed.

  • Ensures compliance with organizational policies and procedures, achieves a minimum "Satisfactory" rating on internal audits and examinations, and performs additional duties that support the credit union's mission.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Advanced proficiency in maintaining and updating HRIS databases, including system documentation and analysis.

  • Knowledge of business analysis tools and ability to create detailed reports from HR data.

  • Strong project management and time management skills, including managing multiple complex deadlines.

  • Knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and regulations, including FMLA, COBRA, ADAAA, and FLSA.

  • Knowledge of employee benefits administration, including retirement plans, health and life insurance, and disability coverage.

  • Knowledge of personnel records retention policies and schedules.

  • Knowledge of payroll administration.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to deliver presentations and speak effectively to large groups.

  • Intermediate mathematical and accounting skills.

  • Ability to exercise tact, discretion, and responsibility when handling confidential information.

  • Strong independent problem-solving skills and ability to manage daily responsibilities under general supervision.
