SEMH Teaching Assistant - What the Role Involves

• Providing dedicated 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs
• Implementing strategies outlined in pupils' Education, Health and Care Plans under SENDCO guidance
• Supporting pupils through de-escalation, emotional regulation, and reintegration following difficult periods
• Maintaining accurate records of pupil wellbeing and progress and feeding back to teachers and the pastoral team
• Building consistent, trusted relationships with pupils and families that underpin long-term positive change

 

SEMH Teaching Assistant - What the School is Looking For

The ideal SEMH Teaching Assistant will hold a 2:1 or 1st Class degree from a top 30 UK university. Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH or emotional needs in a UK school or educational setting is highly valued. The school is seeking a calm, resilient, and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant with strong interpersonal skills and a genuine vocation for supporting vulnerable young people.

SEMH Teaching Assistant - Salary and Contract Info

• £460 to £550 per week, pro rata to term time only
• Full-time, long-term contract from September 2026 to July 2027
