Description
Under immediate supervision, performs difficult skilled work in the general maintenance, repair, modification and construction of City buildings and related equipment; does related work as required.
Supervises and participates in rough and finished carpentry and mechanical maintenance work on public buildings, facilities and equipment; repairs desks, tables, chairs and other office furniture; repairs and replaces roofs; repairs buildings, doors, windows and floors and performs locksmith functions; installs paneling, ceiling, walls and other items in City buildings; builds forms, pours and finishes concrete; performs tile work; maintains records, logs and prepares reports.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the tenth grade and extensive experience in skilled building maintenance work.
Thorough knowledge of common hand tools used in building and equipment maintenance work; thorough knowledge of the carpentry trades; general knowledge of plumbing and electrical trades; skill in use of tools; ability to work from sketches, drawings and blueprints; ability to maintain records, logs and proper reports; ability to supervise and participate in the work of a small group of mechanics.
