Job Description
The Production Manager is responsible for leading all production and maintenance operations while fostering a culture where safety, quality, and continuous improvement come first. This role ensures products are manufactured efficiently, meet customer specifications, and are delivered on schedule while maintaining cost-effective operations.
The Production Manager partners with cross-functional teams to optimize productivity, improve processes, manage inventory, and develop employees. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager.
Production Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop production and maintenance employees.
- Plan, organize, and oversee daily production schedules to meet customer demand.
- Ensure production paperwork, tooling, formulas, and work instructions are prepared and accurate.
- Verify production startup, color approvals, and product quality before production begins.
- Ensure raw materials and tooling are available to support production schedules.
- Monitor key production metrics (KPIs) and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Lead press checks and color matching activities.
- Provide hands-on operational support when needed.
Safety (OHSE)
- Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure employees follow safe work practices and wear required PPE.
- Identify, investigate, and address safety hazards, near misses, and incidents.
- Participate in the site's Safety Committee and support continuous improvement of safety programs.
- Ensure production employees receive appropriate uniforms and safety equipment.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure all products meet customer specifications and internal quality standards.
- Stop production and quarantine product when quality concerns arise.
- Support investigations into customer complaints and internal quality issues.
- Analyze production performance, scrap, and waste to identify improvement opportunities.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that increase productivity, reduce waste, and improve operational performance.
Materials & Procurement
- Coordinate with Procurement to ensure raw materials are available to support production.
- Monitor inventory levels of production materials including metals, inks, adhesives, liners, packaging, tooling, and consumables.
- Recommend improvements that enhance supplier quality, service, and cost.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a positive, engaged, and accountable team.
- Provide coaching, performance feedback, and employee development.
- Promote collaboration across Production, Maintenance, Quality, Procurement, and other departments.
- Support staffing, training, scheduling, and performance management initiatives.
Required
- 5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience.
- Experience managing production teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of production planning, scheduling, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Preferred
- Experience in packaging, printing, metal forming, closures, or related manufacturing industries.
- Experience with ERP or manufacturing software.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Compensation
The starting salary for this position is expected to be between $112,800 to $141,000; however, base pay offered may vary within the full salary range $112,800 to $169,200 depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on national averages and a geographic differential may be applied based on work location. Position may also be eligible for Amcor’s Management Incentive Plan / Sales Incentive Plan, which is an annual bonus program based on business and individual performance, as well as medical coverage and other health and welfare benefits. The salary range provided reflects the anticipated base pay for this role at the time of this posting. This range is applicable to positions performed in jurisdictions with pay transparency requirements, including CA, CO, CT, HI, IL, MD, MA, MN, NV, NJ, NY, RI, VT, WA, Washington DC, as well as remote roles that may be performed in these locations. Compensation for roles performed outside of these jurisdictions may vary. The Company reserves the right to modify this range at any time.Benefits
