Position Summary
We are currently recruiting for a Commercial Officer to join our Commercial team for Rolls-Royce Submarines team based in Derby for a 12-month Secondment.
What you will be doing:
As a Commercial Officer, you will hit the ground running, acting as the primary interface working on a diverse project portfolio and high-profile customer base, supporting a wide range of commercial activities at an exciting time in a nuclear renaissance.
Be pivotal in maintaining and further developing relationships between Rolls-Royce and its existing and new customers.
Effectively and efficiently manage our most valuable customer accounts, identifying commercial risks and opportunities to manage and limit the risk to the business.
Manage emergent business issues including new product introduction, emerging requirements, contractual change and the resolution of disputes and claims.
Provide expert commercial advice and guidance to the programme, technical and finance teams at all levels across the Submarines business.
Coordinate and author business proposals for new contracting arrangements and emerging requirements, executing existing contractual principles, leading, negotiating, and delivering the tender evaluation process.
Draft complex contracts from first principles and other legally binding agreements involving negotiating with senior customer stakeholders.
Write and tailor communications for briefings into senior stakeholders within the business.
Deputise for management, when necessary, in dealings with stakeholders at all levels.

Degree or equivalent qualification.
Ideally have between 3-5 years proven experience in either a commercial role, contract law or a procurement-based role.
Experience in drafting, negotiating and managing commercial agreements.
Knowledge of contract pricing and how to manage contract risk.
Self-motivated, possess enthusiasm, energy, excellent communication, negotiating, contract management and influencing skills.
Positive attitude and meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to take on new challenges in your stride
Ability to solve complex problems [while maintaining customer focus].
Demonstrable commitment to continuous professional development.
Highly motivated and capable of working under own initiative.
