A Day In The LifeThe Accounting & Finance Analyst I supports core accounting, investment oversight, and financial analysis activities. This role partners closely with Accounting, Finance, and external service providers to ensure accurate reporting, strong controls, and well-prepared financial insights. The position offers exposure to investment accounting, financial analytics, and insurance-related processes, providing a strong foundation for career growth within finance and accounting.
As a Acctg & Finance Analyst I you will:
- Investment Accounting Oversight
- Liaise with third-party provider to oversee monthly investment accounting and reporting
- Review investment reports for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with internal records
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in partnership with external providers and internal teams
- Assist with documentation and support for audits related to investments
- Investment Committee Support
- Coordinate and compile materials for Investment Committee meetings
- Prepare investment summaries, performance reporting, and supporting schedules
- Ensure timely distribution of materials and maintain organized documentation
- Financial Statement Analytics
- Perform balance sheet and income statement analysis (actual vs. actual comparisons)
- Identify key drivers of period-over-period changes and variances
- Prepare supporting schedules and provide insights to Accounting and Finance leadership
- Cash Flow Analysis
- Support cash flow monitoring and analysis
- Track inflows and outflows and assist in forecasting and reporting activities
- Help ensure cash activity is accurately reflected in financial records
- Collateral Trust Oversight
- Assist in monitoring collateral trusts to ensure compliance with Investment Policy Statements (IPS) and regulatory requirements
- Track asset levels, eligibility, and concentration limits
- Support reporting and documentation for internal and external stakeholders
- General Accounting Support
- Assist with reconciliations, schedules, and reporting deliverables as assigned
- Support month-end close processes as needed
- Maintain organized workpapers and documentation for audit readiness
What We Need From You
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required Req
- less than 1 year intern or co-op experience in Accounting or Finance preferred Preferred
- Exposure to investments, insurance, or financial services is a plus
- Technical Skills - Solid understanding of:
- o Financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow)
- o Accounting principles (GAAP familiarity preferred)
- Proficiency in Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic data analysis)
- Familiarity with financial systems or data tools is a plus
