Description
Role Overview
At Harvard Bioscience ("HBio"), we empower the world's leading scientists to push the boundaries of discovery. As our Credit Controller, located in Cambridge, UK you are the guardian of the company's liquidity. You don't just "collect debt"-you manage the vital relationships and financial pathways that ensure our global operations remain fueled and ready for innovation.
This role is a blend of financial precision and strategic communication. You will own the sales ledger from end-to-end, ensuring "right-first-time" accuracy in reconciliations while navigating the complexities of international trade and compliance. You must have authorization to work in United Kingdom.
Our Values & How We Work Together
We are looking for a teammate who finds purpose in our core principles:
Ownership of Outcomes: You focus on the "why," not just the task. You'll have the autonomy to manage your ledger, stay ahead of aged debt, and keep the big picture in focus.
Integrity & Accountability: In Finance, precision is principle. We value transparency in reporting and see every reconciliation discrepancy as an opportunity to improve our systems.
Urgency & Excellence: Cash flow is the heartbeat of the business. You work with a healthy sense of urgency to resolve "orders for release" and hit DSO targets.
Collaborative Success: You'll partner closely with the Global Credit & Collections Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless intercompany recharges and audit readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Ledger Management: Own the full sales ledger cycle, ensuring invoices are paid on time and overdue balances are proactively resolved.
Financial Orchestration: Navigate month-end reconciliations, manage intercompany recharges, and maintain the "orders for release" report to keep the business moving.
Systems & Compliance: Input foreign currency exchange rates into Navision and ensure every action aligns with US SOX compliance and international financial regulations.
Operational Support: Streamline internal processes, from administering expense claims via Concur to supporting interim and year-end audit cycles.
Qualifications
The Essentials
Experience: Proven Credit Control experience, ideally within an international or multinational environment.
Technical Adaptability: Proficiency in Navision (or similar ERPs like JDE/Dynamics AX) with a high aptitude for learning new financial tech stacks.
Meticulous Mindset: A natural inclination toward precision in data entry and a deep understanding of general accountancy concepts.
Organizational Mastery: Skilled at planning, work management, and establishing rigorous follow-up procedures to monitor project results.
The "Extra Mile" (Desirable)
Multilingual: Proficiency in German is a significant advantage.
Global Trade Savvy: Experience with Letters of Credit and international payment vehicles.
Portal Proficiency: Familiarity with commercial procurement portals (e.g., Ariba, Coupa, Tungsten).
Working at HBIO
True "Off" Time: We value your results and respect your personal boundaries.
Work-Style Autonomy: We offer the freedom to work where you're most productive. Whether you need the energy of our Cambridge office for team collaboration or a quiet remote space for deep-dive reconciliations, we support the schedule that works for you.
Growth-Focused Environment: We treat setbacks as valuable opportunities to learn, adapt, and improve together.
