Examples of Duties:
- Inspects designated areas periodically for evidence of violation.
- Ensures that property owners, contractors etc. have proper permits.
- Interviews residents and inspects area to investigate reports of violations.
- Locates property owners and explains nature of inspection and investigation findings, and encourages voluntary action to resolve problems.
- Studies laws and statutes in municipal code to determine specific nature of code violations and type of action to be taken.
- Issues notices of violation to owners not complying with request for voluntary correction of problems.
- Prepares case materials when legal action is required to solve problems, and may appear in court to testify if needed.
- Conducts or participates in informational meetings for residents and property owners.
- Maintains appropriate records and prepares required reports.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- 6 months of related experience and/or training
- Associate’s Degree (AA/AS), or an equivalent combination of education and training
Valid state issued driver’s license.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar software
Other Necessary Requirements:
- May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City’s needs.
