Tax Accountant, North America
Locations: New York, Kentucky, Georgia, Florida or Texas
This role will be predominantly remote with occasional trips to New York for key meetings.
Salary Banding: $80,000 - $110,00 depending on experience.
Make the market better. It starts with you.
Lloyd’s is the world’s leading insurance and reinsurance marketplace. We bring together experts, capital and ideas to help the world face risk with confidence.
We’re looking for a Tax Accountant to join our North America Tax Team, part of the Finance Directorate. You’ll help deliver Lloyd’s US tax reporting obligations, working with internal teams, market participants and external US tax advisers to make sure filings are accurate, timely and well controlled.
This is a role for someone who enjoys detail, data and problem solving. You’ll work with tax and accounting information, review submissions, prepare supporting analysis and help strengthen the processes that support Lloyd’s US tax framework.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll play a key role in supporting Lloyd’s US tax compliance activity. This will include:
- Reviewing and validating taxpayer populations from Lloyd’s systems for US tax filings.
- Checking data submissions from market participants and their agents for completeness, accuracy and consistency.
- Analysing tax and accounting data, identifying exceptions, anomalies and areas that need further review.
- Supporting the preparation of Lloyd’s market tax filings by applying relevant US federal tax rules.
- Preparing data packs, schedules and analysis for review by external US tax counsel.
- Completing reconciliations, investigating differences and helping resolve issues with stakeholders.
- Supporting estimated tax payment calculations and tax account reconciliations.
- Maintaining process documentation, controls and procedural guidance.
- Finding better ways to work, including opportunities to improve data quality, efficiency, automation and operational resilience.
What you’ll bring
We’re looking for someone who can combine technical tax knowledge with curiosity, care and clear communication.
You’ll bring:
- Experience in tax compliance, public accounting or a related tax function.
- Experience preparing or reviewing complex tax returns and supporting schedules.
- Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Confidence working with large data sets, reconciliations and analytical reviews.
- A good understanding of tax return preparation, controls and data validation.
- Knowledge of US federal tax for corporations and/or insurance companies.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence using Microsoft Office applications.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Sound judgement, personal accountability and a willingness to challenge information where needed.
General insurance knowledge would be a plus, and experience working with external advisers or tax authorities would be helpful.
Qualifications
You’ll ideally have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field. A CPA, Enrolled Agent or equivalent professional qualification is preferred, but we’ll also consider candidates actively working towards a recognised tax or accounting qualification.
The way you’ll work
At Lloyd’s, how we deliver matters. In this role, you’ll take ownership of your work, collaborate openly and help build strong, reliable controls across North America tax processes.
You’ll be part of a team that values openness, focus, integrity and empowerment. That means asking good questions, sharing knowledge, speaking up when something needs attention and helping us improve how work gets done.
Why Lloyd’s?
Lloyd’s plays a unique role in the global insurance market. We connect risk takers, brokers, underwriters and capital to help protect businesses, communities and economies around the world.
Here, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to work that matters, while building your expertise in a specialist tax environment. You’ll be supported to do your best work, develop your skills and add value in a team where accuracy, collaboration and trust count.
We’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive environment that reflects the markets we serve. We welcome different perspectives and support people to reach their full potential.
Being inclusive at Lloyd’s is integral to how we work — and how we deliver impact.
