Team Lead - Payment Posting - Position Summary
At Strivant Health, accurate and timely payment posting is a critical component of revenue cycle success. As a Payment Posting Team Lead, you will provide leadership, coaching, and operational support for teams responsible for posting insurance and patient payments, adjustments, denials, and remittance transactions.
This role combines leadership, training, quality oversight, and hands-on production support. You will help team members resolve complex posting issues, monitor quality and productivity, identify trends, and implement process improvements that enhance operational performance and client outcomes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and passionate about building high-performing teams while maintaining posting accuracy and compliance.
What You'll Do - Your Impact Matters
- Lead, coach, and develop Payment Posting team members to achieve productivity, quality, and service goals.
- Serve as a primary resource for payment posting staff, providing guidance, mentoring, and issue resolution support.
- Monitor daily posting of insurance payments, patient payments, adjustments, denials, and remittances.
- Conduct quality reviews and audits to ensure posting accuracy and adherence to client and company standards.
- Assist with team onboarding, training, SOP development, and continuous employee development initiatives.
- Analyze posting trends and quality findings to identify root causes and drive process improvements.
- Research and resolve payment posting discrepancies, exception items, unapplied cash, and misdirected payments.
- Support backlog management, workload distribution, and production coverage during peak volumes or staffing shortages.
- Collaborate with clients and cross-functional revenue cycle teams to improve workflows and resolve payment-related issues.
- Generate operational reports, track performance metrics, and support special projects as needed.
- Assist management in maintaining service level agreements, quality expectations, and team performance standards.
What You Bring to the Table
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare, finance, accounting, business, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in medical payment posting, payment reconciliation, or healthcare revenue cycle operations.
- At least 1 year of leadership, mentoring, team lead, or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of insurance payments, patient payments, adjustments, denials, remittances, and posting workflows.
- Experience performing quality audits, identifying posting errors, and implementing corrective actions.
- Ability to analyze payment activity, ledgers, and account transactions to resolve discrepancies.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize competing demands, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
