Alif established its first European R&D site to Oulu to be a significant center of expertise and employ teams of Software and Digital IC Design experts, to complement the staff in the US and India. As our staff is growing, we have a role for a (Senior/Staff) Application Engineer in our Application Engineering team.
As an Application Engineer, you will design and develop embedded firmware, application examples, and proof-of-concept solutions showcasing Alif Semiconductors’ product portfolio, including support for customers using ie. Zephyr RTOS and bare metal applications. The role requires hands-on technical engagement, serving as a trusted advisor to our customers, resolving complex application challenges, and ensuring excellent customer satisfaction.
You will also contribute to technical documentation such as Application Notes, Quick Start Guides, and User Manuals, while collaborating with the marketing team to validate product requirements and review new product introduction materials. The role also involves supporting business development activities, bringing technical depth to pre-sales engagements and strategic growth initiatives.
This is a permanent, full-time position for an engineer who is capable of independently planning, organizing, and executing their own work. The role does not require prior experience in a lead or managerial position but does require a strong sense of ownership and accountability. You will be expected to document your work clearly and report on your activities, progress, and results in a structured and consistent manner.
The role will be built around the experience you have, but here’s some requirements that we feel may be beneficial for you to have:
* Bachelor’s or above degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
* Experience of developing firmware and/or software for embedded products. Experience with IoT edge devices a plus.
* Demonstrated experience in developing device drivers and application software for digital and analog peripherals.
* Proficient in developing software for bare metal and RTOS. Zephyr experience is a big plus
* Proficient in C, programming with excellent engineering and software development practices, C++ is considered a plus
* Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and other standard lab equipment
* Skilled in Embedded Software development tools
* Knowledge in Linux is considered a plus
* Comfortable working with both, well-defined and ambiguous requirements
