PURPOSE

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to support technology initiatives across NFPA’s Codes & Standards development lifecycle. This role will coordinate work across business teams, IT, and external vendors and help manage a multi-year roadmap involving systems, integrations, business processes, and organizational change.

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working across multiple teams and priorities. They should have strong project management fundamentals, be able to work effectively with both business and technical teams and be comfortable leading projects as well as partnering with other project leads and vendors.

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage day-to-day project activities, independently or in partnership with other internal or vendor project leads.
• Develop and maintain project plans, milestones, dependencies, deliverables, and timelines.
• Work with the team to break project roadmaps into clear, manageable phases of work.
• Coordinate work across internal teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.
• Provide clear, concise project status updates and ensure risks, issues, and decisions are visible to the appropriate stakeholders.
• Drive follow-through on decisions, action items, and commitments.
• Adapt plans as priorities, requirements, and organizational needs evolve.
• Escalate issues and risks when needed and help the team identify options and next steps.
• Support system enhancement requests and intake processes to prioritize and coordinate ongoing improvements.
• Identify cross-team dependencies and ensure the right stakeholders are engaged at the right time.
• Build strong working relationships and foster collaboration across teams with different priorities and areas of expertise.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of project management experience, preferably supporting technology, digital transformation, or complex systems initiatives.
• PMP, CAPM, or similar certification a plus but not required.
• Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional projects involving both business and technical teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with business, technical, and vendor teams.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and keep work moving in a collaborative way.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, dependencies, and priorities simultaneously.
• Experience with project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Miro, Smartsheet, or similar platforms.
• Strong facilitation skills and the ability to keep meetings focused on decisions, actions, and next steps.
• Experience working with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project delivery approaches.

Salary ranges at NFPA are set by role and level, based on current competitive market data. Final compensation is determined by a combination of factors, including the specific skills, relevant experience, education, and training you bring to the role, as well as internal equity and business needs. For candidates whose qualifications align well with the role’s requirements and expectations, offers are often made toward the minimum of the posted range. Exceptional qualifications or unique circumstances may result in placement higher in the range. Range: $71,596.00 - $118,161.00
