Sales & Distribution Manager

Manage sales volumes and margins in a defined territory, and develop market share through a well defined strategy. Manage the effective distribution of products as a key team player in the logistics and supply chain management realm, and leverage information systems and software to enable an effective distribution model for the Bakeries. Ultimately, you will balance the business desire to reduce costs and optimize safety to have product available immediately. Achieving this balance means more than moving products from point A to point B as swiftly and cheaply as possible, it means you will ensure detailed planning and execution to minimize risks and challenges while being aware of marketplace dynamics and opportunities for improved competitiveness and greater growth.  

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Sales & Distribution Management

Develop new markets & channels​

Monitor bakery sales activity and success rates against targets, and take appropriate corrective action where necessary.​

Develop strong business relationships with store management to provide service and value beyond the customer's expectations.​

Ensure that merchandising frequency is planned and conducted to brand and store demands.​

Gather intelligence and report on customer preferences, competitive activity & pricing​

Develop and maintain a complete knowledge of products within your portfolio, sales systems and procedures.​

Ensure that product quality delivers to the required Tiger Brands level, securing a consistent output​

Assess procedures and equipment to find improvement potential, ultimately increasing production efficiency and customer satisfaction​

Secure the customer and consumer satisfaction needed to drive growth in the competitive bakeries market ​

Work with customers to ensure sufficient product is ordered to support consumer take away.​

Apply sound judgement, a high level of drive and positive influence so as the teams at the Bakery and at the depots to manage the distribution facilities and resources to meet the required customer service level and sales volumes within the operational budget. Maintain the effective use of distribution resources, procedures and controls to minimize losses, maximize product integrity in all processes at the bakery and depots.

Debriefing Process: Manage debrief processes at the bakeries and depots to ensure integrity and availability of the information to enable the sales function to maintain highest possible customer service levels ​

People Management

Manager performance of sales & distribution members against KPI”s​

Conduct formal employee evaluations, providing formal feedback and development points bi-annually ​

Manage career and succession plans, including capability development to ensure an appropriate level of skill and competence​

Manage conflict resolution​

Oversee the consistent application, enforcement and management of discipline across the team​

Manage compliance to relevant employment legislation and company policies ​

Consequence management​

Training & development​

Cost Management

Manage budgets and trade discounts​

Manage point of sales material ​

Basket management to reduce losses

Fleet management

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TABLE:

Degree in Sales/ Supply Chain Management or related

At least 5 years Sales Management and Distribution experience in FMCG
