- Help strengthen the resilience, controls and governance of RITS, Australia's real-time gross settlement system
About the business, role and team
This is a unique opportunity to join the Reserve Bank of Australia's Payments team, which owns and operates RITS, Australia's real-time gross settlement system. RITS moves around $230 billion between financial institutions each day and ultimately settles all non-cash payments in Australia.
As part of the Payments Operations Program, you will work across the business and IT departments that manage RITS. The program is uplifting operational practices, IT controls and governance to help ensure the reliable, safe and efficient functioning of critical national infrastructure that supports the day-to-day operation of the Australian economy.
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Business Analyst to contribute to uplifting technology standards, processes and systems across the RITS ecosystem.
Key responsibilities include:
- Plan and manage the business analysis approach for projects, aligning delivery with organisational goals and software development lifecycle best practices.
- Elicit, analyse, document, communicate and manage business, system, data and non-functional requirements so they are clear, testable and understood.
- Review business processes, identify opportunities for optimisation and develop strategies to improve efficiency, effectiveness and operational risk controls.
- Translate complex business, strategic and technical information into concise, accessible formats for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Document and communicate change objectives, drivers and business value propositions to support stakeholder alignment and prioritisation.
- Provide subject matter expertise for pilot and implementation planning, change management, test planning and training materials.
- Evaluate solution quality and fitness for purpose through procurement, proof-of-concept, pilot and post-implementation activities.
About you
- Demonstrated experience delivering business analysis for large-scale infrastructure transformation or migration programs.
- A strong background in IT business analysis, with knowledge of infrastructure technologies and services supporting business applications.
- Strong technical aptitude across system analysis, solution design and implementation, including database management systems, software testing and integration.
- Proficiency in business analysis tools and techniques, including requirements elicitation, process modelling, data analysis and technical documentation.
- Experience across the full software development lifecycle and with agile, waterfall and hybrid delivery approaches.
- Ability to design or shape technical solutions, system architectures and data models that meet business requirements.
- Experience uplifting processes and systems through improved technology controls, with demonstrable improvements in operational risk.
- IIBA CBAP certification is strongly preferred, or equivalent demonstrated experience. Supporting business analysis certifications will also be valued.
- Practical, applied formal training in business analysis, together with an ongoing commitment to formal or self-directed learning and cross-skilling.
- A commitment to developing the Bank’s Business Analysis Practice through leadership, mentoring or resource development within the RBA Business Analysis Community of Practice.
